First, many thanks to classmates who called or wrote with expressions of sympathy for me with my pacemaker installation. I can now report that I am back up to speed, and have no restrictions on physical activity. I can, however, stand a little more mental activity if you will send me information of your doings for these class notes.

Another athlete is Ernie Moore, who writes that he is still swinging but is getting less distance in spite of the improved club shafts and golf balls, improvement he considers so much ballyhoo. With Matty Matteson having reported in a recent newsletter his colossal feat of two repeat two holes-in-one, I'm waiting for the announcement that one of our golfers has finally shot his age.

Beany Thorn writes that when he travels he seems to be the healthiest one in his tour group, and doesn't even need a seasick pill anymore. He claims that his collapsible cane was a great invention. I can partially support such claim as I have just tested in Pocono fast water my L.L. Bean telescopic wading staff greatest invention since the wheel.

Frank Pope, one of the troops still active in his vocation, called to report that he is going strong in his hearing aid business in downtown Reading, Pa. One might think that Frank is in one heck of a growth industry, but he said that the competition was fierce. He sounded, however, as if he were enjoying it.

Dorothy and Dick Henry visited one of their daughters on Long Island in May en route to visit a second in Putney, Vt., prior to Dick's attending an Alumni Council meeting in early June. Because many classmates are highly charged about affairs at the College, I hope that Dick will give Bill Wendell and/or me a report for circulation.

I'm afraid he missed Ralph Hunter in Hanover because Betty and Ralph were due to leave on June 2 for a Dartmouth Alumni College Abroad cruise up the Danube, an outing I've heard is super.

Dan Denham writes that he is giving serious consideration to attending both the Davidson and Princeton games this fall. I hope that his thinking will arouse serious interest in Virginia/Carolina '31ers in attending the former, and in Jersey/Pennsylvania '31ers in attendingthe latter. At each game let's see if we can beat the turnout we had in '86 at Navy.
