I feel like something of a ghostwriter. Dave Mor-gans began the story of "The Third Floor, South Wing, McLane Hall, Freshman Year" and BillDejong, in rare form, completed it. It is the story of five soul-mates who felt some- what estranged from the mainstream at Dartmouth and who now do a good job of keeping in touch: Howard Williams, Dave Morgans, Bruce Frederickson, RobinHirsch, and Bill Dejong.

Howard Williams felt the most estranged and left after freshman year to go to Case and then Tufts. (Still he must have been a pretty good guy as both Dave and Bill men- tioned him.)

Dave went to law school in Chicago and joined the firm of Williams & Montgomery in the same city. He has been a partner since 1982, practicing general insurance law and doing defense of professional liability work. Dave and his wife, Susie, have been married for 17 years and have two children—Kristin 7, and Jonathan 4.

Bruce Fredrickson's law firm in D.C., Webster & Fredrickson, has made a name for itself in the defense of civil/employment rights. One of his cases made it to "60 Minutes" and he has recently settled a notorious sex-discrimination and harassment case in the D.C. area. (Unfortunately, he was un- available for comment so I don't have any particulars.) Bruce and his wife have two daughters.

Robin Hirsch works out of Hollywood as a free-lance video cameraman. Bill had a chance to visit with him recently when Robin was filming "Rescue 911," his current project. Other contacts in the industry assure Bill that Robin's talents are widely recognized and his dreams of producing and directing probably not overly ambitious.

by 1987, he joined the Center of Health Communication at the Harvard School of Public Health, where he worked on mass media campaigns. Recently, however, he has been "cured of working for people." As of February 20, Bill will be working as an independent consultant in the prevention of drunk driving, AIDS, and violence. He suggested that he might call his firm "DeJong and the Restless."

John Burns wrote to let us know what's been keeping him busy: "Believing that U.S. businesses would, eventually, 'go global' in a big way, I started a firm, Global Connections, ten years ago to assist companies in transferring technology abroad. I traveled extensively in South America, North Africa, the Middle East and Europe, establishing agencies for U.S. companies. I've also been involved in a joint venture in the People's Republic of China to build light-construction tractors . .. I'm enjoying the challenge of teaching Americans how to 'think and act globally.' "!

Roger Brown married his Tuck sweetheart, Karen. The family has grown lately with the adoption of a golden retriever, Ginger. Roger has been working as a cer- tified information systems auditor (in his own words, "a CPA of audit") at First National Bank of Central New Jersey, but the bank's recent acquisition by Nat West has left him dreaming of work in New Hampshire or Vermont. He's facing a job relocation which is far less desirable than the North Country, so would welcome any and all prospects which any of you might offer. Roger's home number is 201/832-2793.

As you read this, Paul Sehl and the Alumni Fund troops are hard at work on this year's campaign. An unsolicited, increased gift over our last non-reunion year would do wonders to lift their spirits. So please dig into those pockets and make their—and many current and future under- graduates' day!
