Sorry I don't have much time this month but I do have enough to slip on my black curly-haired wig and oversized mustache ...thus becoming Pete Shalit, Drama Critic.

What a delightful evening. A delicious Italian meal in a shoebox restaurant in Boston's North End followed by a trip to the theater. Located in the basement below the European, it was a theater in the round with about one hundred seats. My wife and I and a couple of friends were on hand to see AParty of One, a musical comedy depicting single life in today's society.

We were late so I didn't get a chance to scan the playbill before the opening act but when the cast of four made its first appearance, one of the faces looked familiar. Lo and behold, it was Jamie MacKenzie, who proceeded to steal the show.

I would highly recommend this play to anyone who is in the Boston area or who can scrape up enough cash to fly in. It is a series of vignettes which realistically examine the life of the single person in today's society. I won't say it's for everyone, only those who are single or once were. I have no idea how long it will be running or if it still is, but it is simply a must see.

Briefly .. . James Adams of Boston has been named assistant vice president of Meredith and Grew. Jim has been with the firm since 1982. John and Cindy Funk became first-time parents in December with the birth of John Jr. Jeff Bechler has moved to Children's Hospital in Philadelphia.

That's all I have and all I have time for. Stay tuned to these pages for news on an '82 Royal Wedding.
