A new year (school year), a new scribe, an empty mailbox, a very short column. With an empty file I have resorted to several quick biographies to utilize our sacred space. If, however, each of you will just take a few moments of time, right now, to update me on you and your fellow classmates, this column will return to a much more interesting piece.
Our new president, John Ferries, currently resides in Wilton, Conn., with his wife, Donna, and their three children. John is president of DMB&B's International Division and is a member of the management group and the board of directors. DMB&B nas operations in 50 countries, billings of almost $2 billion, and is the 8th largest advertising/communications company in the world. John started with Benton & Bowles in 1963 and has risen to this top position, following their merger with D'Arcy McManus Masius in 1985. As noted in the last issue, John is dedicated to rejuvenating our class and encouraging participation by the whole class.
Yours truly is currently chairman and CEO of Huffy Corporation, a $5OO million NYSE company, and a major manufacturer of bicycles (world's largest), juvenile and basketball products, and a nationwide supplier of assembly and inventory services to retailers.
I live in Dayton, Ohio with Phoebe, my wife of 23 years. We have three children, all of whom will be in college this coming year. Harry IV, Dartmouth '91; Austin, St. Lawrence University '93; and Christine, Dartmouth '94. Needless to say, these are expensive years.
