A hearty wah-hoo-wah to class newsletter editor Charlie (Fuzzy) Perkins for an outstanding job on the Autumn 1989 edition. It appears that our resident managing editor of the Union Leader has also turned publisher (of the desktop variety). When I called Charlie to congratulate him on the publication, he confided that he was using the class newsletter as a testing ground for his new PC desktop publishing software. He also mentioned that the recent hiring of a deputy managing editor for the Union Leader has given him some more time to concentrate on the important things in life. Charlie's quote of the year: "In the past 12 months, world politics has gone far beyond what we have seen in our lifetime."

Thanks to class treasurer Jeff Sassorossi we have the following communique from Scott Cleary, who is "alive and well in Glastonbury, Conn. He is a partner in Andersen Consulting, where he spends most of his time installing computer systems. He and his wife, Jo, are busy with three kids, Chad '82, Jodie '84, and Zachary '88." The editor assumes that the years mentioned are those of birth and not of their anticipated graduating class!

David Stephens writes "I am in my third year as head of the mathematics department at the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore. I have begun coaching girls' cross-country this fall. I won the Calhoun-Reynolds Award in September for a member of the faculty who contributes to school life in a significant way outside the classroom. It was quite a surprise to win!"

The New Year brought a promotion for Rick Waddell, who was named senior vice president at the Northern Trust Company. Rick is responsible for strategic planning and corporate marketing at the bank. Better known as "Cate's husband," Rick has been with Northern Trust since graduating from Dartmouth. Cate and Rick live in Wilmette, Ill., with their two sons.

From our "Docs in the News" department, John Costigan reports that he has joined the medical staff of Forest Hospital in Des Plaines, Ill., as the unit director of Town House, an adolescent treatment unit of the hospital. John got his M.D. and served his psychiatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Many of you may remember Cam (Cameron) Jones and his interest in linking computers with music. It all started with a project in 1972 where as a freshman with an interest in electronics, but a probable major in music he was hired to write software for a project dreamed up by Dartmouth professor Jon Appleton. That "project" has grown into New England Digital Corp., with an estimated $22 million in sales and 130 employees. The product is called a Synclavier, and it has produced sound effects for many well-known movies ("Turner and Hootch," "Ghost Busters II," "Lethal Weapon II," "Do the Right Thing"), television shows ("thirty something"), and recording artists (Michael jackson, Sting, Stevie Wonder, and the Miami Sound Machine). Local boy makes very good music.

The '75 MIAs continue to be missing, with no recent word of their positions. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the following classmates are respectfully requested to report in to me at the address below: Charles Allen Michael Luke Dumont Bunker Emily Foley Parry Craig Faupell Robert Steele Charles Jamieson Peter Syvertsen Until next month, your dutiftil servant requests correspondence.
