Good news. Just learned that Dick Jacob will be heading up our 35th Reunion. Dick was at our class officers' meeting late in April, listening to our classmates suggestions as to what should be included in the reunion activities. We can look forward to hearing from Dick about the shape our days together in June 1992 will take. Dick is living in New York City where he is a freelance writer as well as working as a consultant on European business with a special focus on Germany. With all the developments in Germany this past year, he will have much to share with us as to his perception of the events in that part of the world.
Al Soast will be picking up Dick's responsibilities in this year's 1958 alumni fund. JohnWhiteley continues as our class head agent. The focus this year for our class is participation. John is working hard with our classmates to get us over 65 percent participation this year. With just a few weeks to go in the 1991 Alumni Fund, support the Dartmouth education of those who will be the future leaders of our country in so many ways.
The alumni trustee election in its new format was headed up by none other than our own Dave Bradley. Congratulations, Dave. This promises to be the beginning of a fine new era in alumni trustee elections. When you are in Hanover, give Dave a call. He is always glad to see his classmates. Another New Hampshirite, Walt Vail, is now a consultant working with financial and banking institutions, a big challenge in these times. Also in the field of finance, DonMcCree on January 1 became the president and chief executive officer of IBJ Schroder Bank and Trust Company in New York. Don will be overseeing the bank's expanding operations in corporate banking, trust services, and private banking.
Last year, John McMillin was named president and chief executive officer of Grace Petroleum Corp., Oklahoma City. Hopejohn will be at our reunion in June 1992. I'll bet he has many insights into what has been going on in the Persian Gulf these past months.
Mori Mitsui has taken on the responsibility of serving as the executive director of the Japan-America Society of New Hampshire. At a time when relations betwen Japan and America are not always clear and sometimes tense, it is encouraging to know that Mori is doing his part in building better relationshps between our two countries.
What are the developments in your family, community involvement, and work? Your classmates and I look forward to hearing about you as "round the girdled earth we roam."
