Greetings from Atlanta! This month Anne Bagainery sent me news from Paris. She and her husband, Alan Hoffman, have made the move to Paris from Brussels. It sounds like Anne is really enjoying the museums and other sites.

President Freedman spoke in Adanta this spring, and I saw Burke Whitman's dad at the dinner. Burke's Marine Corps Reserve unit was called up in Desert Storm, but fortunately it was only engaged in training exercises in the desert in California. While Burke was willing to fight in Iraq, his father seemed pleased that he only had to deal with the hardships of desert maneuvers, and not with Iraqi SCUDs.

Turning to the phone, I found Bob andMarianne Bond Price on their farm outside Winston Salem, N.C. Bob continues to work in his own law firm, specializing in bankruptcy work. Marianne is still working for Wachovia Bank, where she has recendy moved over to the employee benefits area in their trust division. Marianne and Bob both ride, and their new four-year-old horse, Felix, is giving them a challenge!

Next I found Rob Gifford at home in Newton Center, Mass. Rob and his wife, Claire, have two children, Ben 3 and Allison 1. Rob is director of the Southeast Regional Group for Aldrich Eastman & Waltch, a real-estate investment firm. I found out that Rob regularly comes to Atlanta, and one of his biggest projects is a mile from my house! He has expanded his definition of the Southeast to include Mexico, so he has more places to go during those cold New England winters. Rob also passed on news of Mark Brandt, who is living in Virginia and recently became a father.

Barbara Gilbert, wife of Rob Gilbert, reported that Rob is currently on an extended trip to Seattle and Alaska gathering information for a Ph.D. thesis on Alaska land-use policies. This fall he will be at UNC Chapel Hill, completing work for his degree in history. Also on the Ph.D. track is Will Yancey in Austin, Texas. Will's thesis involved a statistical analysis of the relationship between accounting earnings and stock price. If Will were as creatvie as Rob, he could have gotten in a lot more road tripping by analyzing the negative correlation between quality of corporate aircraft and stock price. Will sees other Phi Taus, including Mark Graber (a professor at U. of Texas), and Sue Kepes, who recently visited.

Also bettering himself through education is Paul Kadue, who is going to U. Minnesota at night to earn his M.B.A. By day Paul works as an engineer in a firm that manufactures Orings. In his free time he enjoys gardening. He and his wife are planning a trip this summer to Napa Valley, and they may go to London to celebrate the completion of his M.B.A. Paul sees Peter Vaughn and Kathy Anson in Minneapolis. Peter and Kathy have two kids, and Kathy somehow finds time to practice medicine three days a week.

George Vieth is in-house counsel for Glenmore Distilleries in Louisville, maker of a number of fine brands including Kentucky Tavern bourbon. George is enjoying his work there, and confirms that employees do get free samples.

I found Andrew Welch at home in the District of Columbia. Life has been interesting lately, as the recent riots took place in his neighborhood. Andrew is working as an English teacher and director of college placement at Potomac School. Potomac counts among its distinguished alumni our own NickLowery, who attended during his grade-school days. As a former member of Dartmouth's admissions staff, Andrew is enjoying the college counseling. Since Potomac's high-school program is fairly new and small, he hasn't sent anyone to Hanover yet, but it can't be too long now! Andrew planned to take advantage of the summer break to spend some time in Vermont.

Last, I spoke to Tommy Randolph, in Lake City, Fla. Both Tommy and his wife, AthenaRobinson Randolph, are doctors in private practice in this central Florida city Tommy is in family practice, and Athena is a pediatrician, so they are well equipped to handle their two children, Corey 8 and Aaron 1-5/6. They must be smart parents because they have not allowed Corey to pressure them into constant trips to Disney World!

Well, there's the news. Send more!
