Recent studies have shown that if you don't pick up a pen and write me some news within a few minutes of your reading this column, you probably won't write at all.

Jeff Swiatek will be in Saigon studying Vietnamese language, law, and business during the next three years. With this knowledge, he plans to advise U.S. companies attempting to enter the Indochina market. He was one of six Dartmouth runners who participated in the first international sporting event to be held in Vietnam since 1975, the Vietnam Marathon. Also running was Jerry Casagrande.

Finishing up his "two-year Wall Street analyst thing," Matt Miller left Merrill Lynch in New York in June. Now he's at Columbia Law, along with Marc Guarin, GregGoldberg, Lauren Waller, and MichelleBrownlee. Michelle's on Law Review.

There was a slew of '90s at Bridget Stewart and Brian Lanouette's wedding last August in Oakland, Calif. Attendees included the above-mentioned Michelle, Liana Loh, working at J.P. Morgan in New York; BobSteadman, who's working towards a master's at Columbia; and Miquette Kosse, at Boalt (Berkeley) Law.

Jen Lowry was there. She is using her engineering skills at the AES Corporation of Arlington, Va., traveling to various sites around the country and writing reports on the feasibility of power-generating facilities that her company builds. She's living in Alexandria, Va. Also there were Mike Brandt, a second-year at the Bridgeport School of Law who spent the summer in the U.S. Attorney's office in New Haven, Conn.; Rick Muise who works in banking; and John Gates who is in his third year U. of Indiana Law. Diane Mutti Burke,Beca Solberg, and Meg Devine were in attendance too.

Rikk Thompson, along with John O'Neill and Liz Kraus '89, are members of the Georgetown Law Center's pilot experimental curriculum. During his time off this past summer, Rikk wrote a grant application for a Wesleyan University program for minority and underprivileged children. He then taught a couple high-school level courses and worked as a summer associate for a small Hartford-area law firm and as a research associate for a nonprofit organization.

Rikk's former roommate Ethan Guzman-Barron is in Chicago working for United Airlines. Dan Patton was in Los Angeles teaching bilingual education before he started working on his master's in education at the University of Michigan.

Meg Sommerfeld is a reporter for Education Week newspaper in Washington, D.C. The paper covers education through the highschool level.

Mark Sowa and Emily Lustig were married on March 7 at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. He's working at Groundwater Technology, an environmental consulting firm and his wife is a marketing and PR assistant at the 92nd Street "Y."

Mary Vogrin is working at Kwasha Lipton in Fort Lee, N.J., just across the river from Manhattan. She's in actuarial benefits consulting and currently taking actuarial exams. Much of her work involves advising other companies on their pension plans. LauraSimard is at the same company in another department. Elizabeth Burnett lives with Mary in Hoboken, N.J., and works for Merck Pharmaceuticals in human resources. PaulHill recently received his master's from the Thayer School and is now back in Summit, N.J., working for Johnson & Johnson.

Sandy Morton ended her stint at Sotheby's art auction house in New York at the end of the summer. Amy Fulwyler is working at the Burke Academy in East Burke, Vt. ErikaDePapp is in her second year at Cornell Veterinary School. Carolyn Choi is living in New York after completing her tour with Teach for America in Costa Rica.
