Howard and Julia Kolb, Chicago, Ill., had a happy 61st anniversary in July, and in November Howie celebrated his 89th birthday. Seven years ago a stroke incapacitated his right arm, so Julia, who told us all this, was named full time family writer.

Moriy and Gretchen Storer, Gainsville, Fla., used the green card and wrote that they would visit their son Christopher in California, where he teaches philosophy at De Anza College.

The ninth annual Dartmouth Convocation at North Hill, Needham, was indeed fortunate to have Sally Prescott '58W, associate director of Alumni Affairs, there to tell us the goings-on in Hanover, especially in alumni circles. The class of '26 was represented by your scribe, Ann Schipper Colbum, and Marge Hopkins, as well as Carl Schipper and Dick Nichols at the Health Center.

The disastrous Santa Ana firestorm wiped out a section of Laguna Beach, Calif., so how did Charlie and Mary Starrett's retirement home do? In reply to a telephone inquiry, Maiy said that the home was safe and that personally she is doing fine.

Most everyone in 1926 knows how DickMandel gave extensively to Baker Library and in 1965 sponsored and dedicated the original Harold Rugg '06 College History Room. On September 18, after renovation, the room was rededicated by Dick's son Stephen F. Mandel '52, Stephen's sons Stephen Jr. '78 and Edward '81, and their families, including Stephen Jr.'s two children, Benjamin and Thomas, who cut the ribbons. On display is a mix of the new and old items, including a full-size duplicate of the College charter and Dick's extensive contributions to the library's holdings. With Dick's son, grandsons, greatgrandsons, and families supporting the renovation, the College History Room is now a gift to the College from four generations of Mandels.
