Ed Schiavoni has joined Southern New Hampshire Internal Medical Associates. Ed graduated from Georgetown Medical School and, during at least part of his tenure as a med student, he had the misfortune of sharing a house with T.J. Crane. Ed performed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Georgetown Medical Center, and for the past four years he has served as an attending physician at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md. At Hagerstown Ed was appointed chairman of the Department of Medicine Quality Assurance Committee and the Medical Review Committee. He and his wife, Ellen, a pediatrician, and their two children live in Hamp stead, N.H.
Dean Esserman has been named the Metro-North police chief in New Haven. Dean has served on the New Haven force for two years and previously was general counsel to the New York City Transit Police Department. A graduate of NYU Law, Dean also spent four years as an assistant DA in Brooklyn.
Carey Fiertz and Cynthia Ricks were recently re-elected to the executive committee of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of New York City. The so-called DAANYC (New York is the center of the Universe, right?) is the umbrella organization that oversees volunteer activities for New York alumni; it also governs the Dartmouth Club at the Yale Club, where membership is available to all resident and non-resident alumni wishing to use the hotel, dining, and athletic facilities. Carey will continue to serve as co-president for a second term, and Cynthia will serve as die association's liason to the Dartmouth Student Liaison Office.
Finally, I regrettably have no choice but to dip into the Slander and Libel Subfile. PhilOdence reports that Norm Richter has recently become engaged. According to Phil, all classmates should assume they are invited to the celebration on Block Island next June. Plans for an unexpected mini-reunion are already underway. Happy New Year.
