Since the last issue, I've been sent so much news, there's no way I'll be able to cover it all. This is great! I'll have to defer some items until the next issue. Congratulations to class Vice President Peter Fahey on his election to the Board of Trustees of the College. Peter recently retired from Goldman, Sachs & Co. He was head of its corporate-finance division and has a wealth of experience to bring to the College's table.

Also in the retired column is Gerry Bell. In his usual subtle way, Gerry called me to let me know his business phone should be deleted from the class executive committee mailing list since he retired in December. Gerry is moving to Great Diamond Island off Portland, Maine, where he and his wife bought the former brig (appropriate choice, Gerry) at old Fort McKinley. If you're cruising Casco Bay this summer, look him up. I'm sure he can use an extra hand with a hammer or a paintbrush. Is anybody jealous besides me?

Leckie Rives is retired, but only temporarily. Having completed a distinguished 18-year career at United Dominion Industries, Leckie is looking to secure a position as president or CEO, preferably with an equity interest, in a growth-oriented industrial company. Other possibilities include assuming responsibility of a $50-million to $350-million privately held company where the owners are looking to bring in an experienced senior manager to take the company to the next level and possibly go public. Leckie can be reached at his Charlotte, N.C., office, (704) 527-5728, or at his Atlanta, Ga., office, (404) 353-2133. Two former editors of The Dartmouth, Chris Johnson '94 and Dave Herszenhorn '94, are asking for our help with their historical archives project. If you worked at The Dartmouth during your college career, please write down your thoughts about your experience and send them to Chris and Dave c/o Historical Archives Project, 6175 Robinson Hall, Hanover, NH 03755, phone (603) 643-9230, fax (603) 646-3443.

Newsbriefs: Bill Adler was mentioned in a March edition of the Wall Street Journal as a Washington, D.C., representative for Pacific Telesis. Bob Tannenwald, economist wi th the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, was interviewed on the Western Mass. National Public Radio affiliate, WFCR, for his views on the economics of legalized gambling. Readers of the April issue of Yankee magazine were treated to a short snippet about Nelson Ham of the Second College Grant contributed by Jack Noon. And Ed Heald at a reunion panel at Class Officers Weekend on May 7, described his feelings as he left Hanover on the final day of our 25 th Reunion: he had "tears in his eyes and everything we left behind in his trunk." It doesn't seem possible that a year has passed since our 25th Reunion. At the panel discussion, Ed told of the importance of reunions in helping to rekindle relationships and share our experiences as we go through the passages in our lives. New relationships are often begun. I couldn't agree more.
