Some moments to reflect. In case you did not notice the missing '62 column in last month's issue of DAM, this is my annual crunch time in which my schedule becomes overloaded with the expected tax work plus other client's demands for immediate service that somehow can never be put off to the other nine months of the year. My situation is not unique and I am quite certain that many, if not all of us, have our own special crunch times, whether on a daily, weekly, or seasonal basis when 24 hours in a day is not enough time to meet our responsibilities, or to do what we really want to be doing.
And so, in the middle of the night after a magnificent celebration of St. Patrick's Day (which I'm happy to report we have always taken time to celebrate with family and friends), I now wish to share some very simple thoughts and perhaps some too melancholy feelings.
I must acknowledge and give credit for inspiration to both Edward "Ted" Beal, and to Gordy Williamson for their most poignant and thought-provoking letters that appeared in the February '62 newsletter. We '62s are most heartened by Virginia Williamson's progress in her courageous battle to regain her health. Many of us have prayed in silence without openly sharing our concern and best wishes for Gordy and Virginia.
And so I encourage all of us, including those who may feel and, in fact, be overwhelmed with personal and immediate fears, concerns, and problems, to take those few moments necessary to reflect on others' needs and to reach out to family, friends, and those in our community who are also in need. Financial needs are not always paramount and often times the need is for a helping hand or a few moments of our time to be a good listener or to share a shoulder to lean on.
And so my dear '62 family, I'll sign off for now with several wonderful Irish blessings: "May there always be work for your hands to do—May your purse always hold a coin or two—May the sun always shine on your window pane—May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain—May the hand of a friend always be near you—May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you."
"May the road rise up to meet you-May the wind be always at your back-—May the sunshine warm-up your face and the rains fall softly upon your fields and, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
Keep the new coming. We really want to hear from you!
