Line Eldredge recently launched his own Dallasbased business, Brigham Hill Consultancy, to provide senior-level retained executive searches for not-for-profit organizations including independent schools, foundations, museums, and arts organizations. The name of his business commemorates the hill in Norwich, Vt., where Line's family has enjoyed a family getaway spot since the early 19405.

In February Hank Paulson was named president and chief operating officer of Goldman, Sachs. Dan Hedges reported running into Pete Fahey in Colorado Springs during spring break where the Dartmouth lacrosse team played Air Force and Colorado College. By the way, Dartmouth beat Colorado but lost to Atr Force. The Dartmouth fans outnumbered the supporters of the home teams.

Joe Parrillo's impressive credentials mean he is extremely well qualified to assume his new role as editor-in-chief of Critical Care Medicine, the journal of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). Joe is a graduate of Cornell University Medical College, did his internship and residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, and received training in infectious diseases at the National Institutes of Health. Next, he was chief resident in medicine at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and successfully completed a clinical cardiology fellowship at Mass. General. He is board certified in internal medicine, allergy and immunology, cardiovascular disease, and critical care medicine. Joe initiated and ran the Critical Care Training Program at the National Institutes of Health, where he earned worldwide respect as one of the leading scientists in the area of sepsis. In 1989 he was appointed professor of medicine at the Rush University Medical College, medical director of the Rush Heart Institute, and chief of the sections of Cardiology , and Critical Care Medicine at the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. He has also served as president of the SCCM.

John Everett has resigned from his position as a senior attorney with the Social Security Administration and has set out to hike the Appalachian Trail "end to end." He began at the southern end of the trail in March and expects to be at the summit of Katahdin in late September. John hoped to be at the Hanover Inn corner in mid-August.

The latest news from the Department of State is that Andy Winter has been named deputy assistant secretary of state for information management. Andy will be responsible for information technology worldwide for the State Department. Mike Zaleski has been named to the Thayer School of Engineering Board of Overseers. A 1969 graduate of Thayer, Mike is chairman of Zaleski, Sherwood & Co., a private investment firm in New York City. Jeff Garten's new book, The Big Ten: Emerging Markets and How They Will Change Oar Lives should be on the bookshelves by the time you read this. The publisher is Basic Books. The keynote speaker at the University of New Hampshire's commencement exercises was Bob Reich, who also received an honorary doctor of social science degree. Dan Butterworth and his Marionettes were featured in three public performances in Portsmouth, N.H., early this year. Two magazines in Chris Meigher's stable have won top industry honors. Saveur magazine was named "Magazine of the Year" by Advertising Age and Garden Design was named to ADWEEK's "Hottest Magazines" in America list. Arnie Resnicofif has reported to duty as the top military chaplain on the staff of the commander-in-chief, U.S. European command, based in Stuttgart, Germany. By the time you read this, Vicki and Leckie Rives will have completed their relocation from Charlotte, N.C., to Dove Canyon, Calif., which is a 20-minute commute from Leckie's office in Laguna Hills. Leckie reports that his new company, Vista Medical Distribution Corp., is off to an encouraging start.
