Love must be in the air this spring, for my mailbox is overflowing with wedding announcements. Warm congratulations go out to Jess Neyman, who married Jay Martin in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 10, and Kristin Cheshire, who plans to tie the knot with Andrew Spencer '97 in June. Sources also tell me that Dave Reymann and Lara Swenson have announced their engagement in Chicago, as has Elizabeth Kalyvas (though I have not yet learned the name of her lucky fiance). Best wishes to all the happy couples!

June has also been a big month for Allison Stedman Alvarado, who celebrated her first anniversary with Michael Alvarado, DMS '98, and also received her M.A. in comparative literature from Dartmouth. In September Allison heads to Penn to begin a Ph.D. program in seven- teenth-century French literature.

Pace Duckenfield dropped a line to say he has finished his first year at the University of Maryland Law School, and is keeping busy with Army Reserve duties, which include an upcoming officer basic course in Georgia and travel to Korea. Rebecca Gorman writes that she had a terrific experience with her props internship at Seattle Repertory Theatre, and will spend the summer in Boulder at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival before heading off to Carnegie Mellon for an M.F.A. in playwriting this fall. Bryan "Nutsy" Knutson, who is in Boston, also sent reports on various folks: Brian Crowell is working for Fox Sports and soaking up the sun in Los Angeles; Kevin McGowan is involved in currency trading in N.Y.C.; and Larry Park is working at the National Institutes of Health just outside D.C.

Dave Kramer spent the past year in Hanover, finishing up the teacher prep program and gaining certification in secondary English, coaching swimming, and training for upcoming open water swims and triathlons. This August, Dave is off to Cali, Columbia (yes, that's South America), to teach in a bilingual private school. Also from the world of education, Shakari Cameron writes that has been teaching English to ninth and 12th graders in San Francisco, learning much about Dangerous Minds, but having a very rewarding experience. She'll be spending the summer in Cuernava, Mexico, studying Spanish.

I must also make mention of some of the dozens of classmates I caught up with in person on my recent cross-country law school tour. Out at Stanford Jerry Martin and Tyler Newby finished up their first year of law school and are looking forward to the fun-filled life of the summer associate. At Harvard Law Jim Brennan, Chris Kao, Betsy Miller, Cory Wishengrad, Derek Squire, Lukasz Rachuba, and Laurel Smith were all eagerly anticipating the end of the infamous 1L year. I also ran into Justin Cooper in Boston, who is in grad school at Harvard, and saw Katie Shutzer, who is working for Houghton Mifflin, and Mary O'Connor, who came for a brief visit from New York, where she lives with Laura Torres, and is working and finishing up her accounting degree from N.Y.U. The Boston crowd also included Jim Rich, who is gearing up for an upcoming job with J.P. Morgan in N.Y.C., Matt McGill, who is off to law school in the fall, and Darren Peers and Bill Kelleher, who are living in the North End and working in the city.

Up in Hanover I crossed paths with more folks: Jack Kolodny, Brian Barry, Mike McCord, and Sharon Spatz, who all finished up their B.E.s this spring at Thayer; and Shelley Arakawa and Maggie Chang, who are both admissions officers for Dartmouth. Several of us savored a big dinner together at EBAs with Tom Caputo, Brendan Doherty, Brad Parks, Adam Medros, and Yeng Felipe, who were also in town for Class Officers Weekend. I am pleased to report that, on the whole, everyone seemed happy and in very good spirits.

Well, the pile of letters in front of me is still large, but I am unfortunately out of space. Stay tuned for the next issue and more action-packed, exciting '96 class news...
