I recently received an interesting article on Jim Ramsey from the Oak Ridger of Oak Ridge, Tenn., dated July 30, 1998. It seems that Jim, who has been chief prosecutor for Anderson County since 1978, is seeking re-election as district attorney general. After graduating from Dartmouth with a B.A. in political science, Jim taught French and English for three years before attending the University of Tennessee Law School. He then practiced law for six years in addition to being the attorney for the Anderson County Commission. After serving as a municipal judge in Lake City for two years, he became district attorney in 1978. Jim has been instrumental in bringing the sport of rowing to Oak Ridge, where it has achieved great popularity, and he has guided several area juniors to regional and national championships. He and his wife, Kathy, a physical education teacher, have two children: Chris, 28, who is a recent medical school graduate, and Geoff, 27, who is seeking a degree in political science at the University of Tennessee. Good luck, Jim, in the re-election race, and we hope to see you back in New England soon with a crew shell on the car roof! The May 10 edition of the Concord (N.H.) Sunday Monitor brought news that Glen Currie has been elected a corporator of the Merrimack (N.H.) County Savings Bank. Glenn, who lives in Concord, is an independent financial consultant and had previously held senior level positions at Textron, Avco Financial Services, and the Paul Revere Life Insurance Cos. He is active in a variety of professional and civic organizations.

From Cambridge, Mass., Dataware Technologies Inc. recently announced that Michael Gonnerman has joined the company as vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer. Dataware Technologies is a leading provider of enterprise knowledge management software and Mike had been its acting CFO for the past ten months. After Dartmouth he received an M.B.A. from Northwestern and then spent ten years with Arthur Andersen, followed by 12 years as die CFO for various public and private high technology companies, and then eight years as president of his own specialized financial consulting firm. Mike and his wife, Betsy, have three grown children: Jennifer 27 and twins Peter and Tobey 26. They reside in Sudbury, Mass.

Brian Butler apparently knew he wanted to work in public service during his college days, according to an article in the May 14, 1998 edition of the Waunakee Tribune (Waunakee, Wise.) Brian is one of 39 supervisors serving Dane County, and his area, District 25, includes a diverse mix of "students and professors...farms and businesses of all sizes, luxury homes and condos, and areas of low-income housing." He first ran in 1996, was elected, and recently won re-election. In that time he has served on the zoning, natural resources, and transportation committees. After Dartmouth he received his law degree from Northwestern and currently practices in Dane County, where "I handle such areas as disputes among owners and, three or four times a year, am involved in a full trial." He and his wife, Carolyn Lazar have two grown children whom they enjoy visiting in addition to other travel and sailing.

Finally, congratulations to our own BillWebster for being one of only six alumni to earn the distinguished Alumni Award for service to the College.
