Business: Gary Goodenough is now coportfolio manager of the New England High Income Fund. Since taking over the fund, Gary and partner have moved it into 11th place out of 179 similar funds by managing to wring out the highest possible total return from companies with less-than-perfect credit ratings.
Medicine: Donald Syracuse is now the president of the New Jersey Thoracic Society, in addition to being a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health and a senior partner in the Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgical Group. In his spare time Don serves on the board of the Montclair Counseling Center and is active in the Boy Scouts.
The Arts: Charles Oakley is now a fellow of the American Institute of Architects, an honor conferred upon AIA members who have contributed significantly to their profession. Duke is the campus architect and assistant vice chancellor for design and construction at UCLA.
Sports: Dudley Kay reports that his USTA Seniors (50+) 4.0 tennis team clawed its way through the local and regional tournaments to qualify for the Nationals in Palm Springs, Calif. They almost made it to the Final Four but....
Foreign Affairs/Religion: Gunnard Johnston is living in Lithuania, serving as a missionary for the Unification Church. His main responsibilities are the management of an educational program for university-level students teaching about the Unification Movement, its origins, its goals, its purpose. Gunnard worked in that capacity in several locations in the United States before heading east.
Politics: I am again running for school board in Derry. What an anti-climax!
