You will find this a most unusual column due to the fact that I have little class news to report. Unfortunately, I am unable to make up news which, in the future, might result in shortened and possibly no column. I regret having to report the loss of classmate Tom Chapman and also EllieVonPechman, Carl's widow.

Lew Williams writes with the following: "The grouchy 'old goat' is here (Winter Springs, Fla.) for one reason my daughter and only child (with two grandchildren) are here! Come June, a visit to New England will save my sanity and will get a visit to kin in Woodstock, Vt."

George Porter and wife Lela are spending die winter months in San Diego, Calif., and Tortola, D.VJ., returning home in late March. They hope to be with us in June. Bob Reeve called reporting that he and Claire were in the midst of the severe southern Florida storm, with its drenching rains and high winds (60-mile gusts), but escaped the many tornadoes. "I never saw so much lightning and heard so much thunder in my life it was incessant!"

In an attempt to create interest and to see if you really read the column, I offer something that has no bearing on the College of '38ers, but which, I hope, will be of interest to you all. I direct it to wives and classmates who claim to be cooks! Please sit down with each other and attempt to come up with definitions of the following class of desserts that all contain fruit in their topping, base, or method of preparation i.e., cobbler, slump, grunt, brown Betty, crisp, pandowdy, and buckle... Answers/definitions next month!

You should now have received my second reunion letter with the program and a projected attendance list. You, by sending in your 'deposit envelope,' will assure your name on the 'official' list for our 'amazing' 60th. You have my guarantee! The attendance figures I listed are about the same. I am looking for a total attendance of 135/140. I'm sure there will be 'melt,' but don't let me have to settle for less! The receipt of your cards will tell what I might expect on registration day, Monday, June 15!
