"Give a rouse, then, in the Maytime, For a life that knows no fear! Turn night-time into daytime with the sunlight of good cheer." "The Stein Song" by Richard Hovey '85 is one of the lesser known pieces from a composer who has written so many immortal songs about Dartmouth, e.g. "Men of Dartmouth," the "Hanover Winter Song," and "Eleazar Wheelock." Franklin McDuffee, the composer of "Dartmouth Undying," is the only twentieth-century composer of a Dartmouth song of sustained interest. That prompted us to the challenge that this extraordinary class might not want the twentieth century to go by without some contribution to Dartmouth's song repertoire. We have 1but a month to bring your hearts to the matter. What say ye?
