A wet and impossibly dreary Sunday in February, and the only ones venturing out into Manhattan are the dogs and German tourists. Poor doggies. My girlfriend is packing for a business trip to Mian; she says she's leaving room to bring me back Armani jackets and Prada shoes. I know what you're thinking. Wow, Stephen's really come a long way. Not even 40 and he's got himself a girlfriend.

Joe Cerulli has a girlfriend. Stacey DeMatteis, a fellow investment banking type here in NYC. Married her in Napa Valley last summer. Susie Nutt was there and e-mailed me about it. She said the affair was stunning" even though temperatures pushed above the century mark. "Sweating Men in Black." Will Blanchard, Joe's freshman roommate, was his man of honor. Other '81s who made the trek: Matt Davis (and wife), Susan Kelley (and husband), Chris Hunter Mihaly (and husband), and Kim Dunn. Joe's good friends CindyStephens Bloch and Roger Bloch couldn't make it at the last minute because of the death of Roger's father. Condolences. Since the wedding, Kim Dunn's gotten married, and Chris Hunter Mihaly had her first child. Did I tell you I might be getting Prada shoes?

David Crane, VP and CFO of Crane & Co., was elected to the board of directors of Associated Industries of Massachusetts, the largest business organization in the state. David got his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He lives in Dalton and serves as a trustee of the Berkshire Museum, director of the Boys & Girls Club, director of Bank Boston-Berkshire Region, and as corporator of Berkshire Medical Center.

I write penis jokes for a living. In my spare time I tell them.

Rachel Kenzie King is finally leaving her job as CEO of Genetic Therapy Inc. of Gaithersberg, Md. Not to worry too much about her future. A Harvard M.B.A., she helped GTI grow from a start-up with a dozen employees to a publicly traded company with 220 employees that was bought in 1995 for $300 million. She and her husband, John, have two kids.

My girlfriend has finished packing, and, as predicted, there is precious little room in her valise for my needs. So Rachel, that's Prada men's size 8. Black, obviously. I trust your taste. And don't forget, back in 1981 when you helped start The Dartmouth Review, and everyone on campus was dumping on you (except for Greg and Keeney and Ben and Distort DaNewza), I was, well...I was dumping on you, too, but that is sooo in the past. Right? Buddies? You're the best.
