Our 70th was a success with eight classmates present, two widows, four wives, children and friends—22 attendees in all. Herb Bissell with Marjorie Wood, Mrs. Katie Black (Dick) with Wendy Trottier, Frances and Charles Dudley, Mrs. Lulie Finlay (Allan), Jacqueline and JeromeHarris, Mrs. Dorothy Latham (Jim) with family, Bill Magenau with daughter Carol, ArtNighswander, Mary and Harold Ripley, Claudine and Austin Starrett, and Corey Wright with son Tom '64.

The College took excellent care of us. Most stayed at The Lodge, and a gathering room was assigned us at the Hanover Inn for all class activities. We also had two excellent students catering to our needs and providing transportation. At our memorial service in Rollins Chapel, Fred Berthold presided and Carol Magenau, with her beautiful voice, sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Dartmouth Undying."

The weather throughout the weekend was superb and we have never had better seats at Commencement, front row behind the graduates. With other reunion classes we marched from Rollins Chapel to our seats, immediately following (retired professor) Robin Robinson '24, representing his 75th Reunion.

The speeches throughout the weekend were excellent—brief and to the point, and the food was good. All the '29ers said they had had a great time and were glad to have attended.

A big "thank you" is due Charlie Dudley for a successful 70th. He spent a lot of time preparing for it. At the class meeting, with Charlie presiding, all the present class officers were re-elected.

We were pleased to have Art Nighswander with the class for Saturday dinner at die Inn. His wife, Esther, died at Kendal May 31. She was a remarkable woman who had spent many years in civic service, also serving 16 years in the N.H. General Court. She was our friend and we shall miss her.

Some of Rip's thoughts on friends:

"All you whom I have known as friends have helped me shape my present ends. For only egotists and fools presume to live by self-made rales. It's when I sense that you approve that I feel worthy of your love."
