I don't have a lot of classmate news. In fact, very little, but I do have a couple of things of interest. I have the final report from Tom Adams, our sterling head agent. The final figure for our 55th reunion gift was $267,665, with 60-percent participation. Also, '46 gave more dollars to the 2000-01 Alumni Fund than any other class from 1931 to 1950, and the total dollars given to our 50th and 55th reunions exceeded the combined total dollars contributed for the 30th, 35th and 45th by $400,000! And back then everyone was still working. Great job by Tom and all his helpers and a magnificent job by you, the class of 1946. While I have your attention, I spoke to bequest chair Frank Ettari, and he lamented that he had to miss the 55th. He asked me to remind you that if you still have any money left the bequest program has a host of things to offer, all to benefit you and the College. Give Frank a call and he'll be glad to advise you. Had a nice luncheon with "Obe" Obermayer this summer at the Jersey shore. I got a good deal more info about his exciting journalism career and all the countries where he has gone trying to help good old U.S.A. Now I shall ask for help. This magazine will do a story for an upcoming issue that will focus on Dartmouth's favorite places. We're talking about places special to you, whether Baker Tower Room or Tanzi's; please write to me this fall about your special places at Dartmouth. From now on our Class Notes will be limited to 350 words. I know that will cause you great grief, having been regaled by my deathless prose for the last 10 years. But such are the high level decisions of DAM. Don't forget our mini-reunion October 18-20.
