Our classmate Dr. John Lyle, a graduate of Dartmouth Medical School, has heard from Mary and Jim Keeley (at Kendal in Hanover), Sylvia and Win Watts (who are year round in Vero Beach, Florida) and Betts Bishop (who's in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, when she is not traveling around the country to catch up with her children and grandchildren in Arizona, Ohio and New Hampshire) John goes on to say that it does not seem possible that Betts's son, David, whom he knew as a student and later as an intern (he was one of the best), has already retired. John and Fran are still happy in their Concord, New Hampshire, retirement home.

How about that guy: Shorty Thomas, the former elementary school teacher, gave substitute teaching at Cheshire High School a try—at the age of 70. That was in 1982 and he's still at it! That must be some kind of record.

One hundred nineteen classmates, widows and friends donated more than $225,000 to the recent Dartmouth Alumni Fund. This broke the "year out" record for the largest amount raised by classes that graduated the same number of years ago that we did, beating the old record set by the class of 1923 by more than $67,000.

With sadness we report the deaths of Nick Nanos, Herb Jackson and Karl Weber. To their families we extend our deepest sympathy—also to John and Fran Lyle on the loss of their second son, Stephen.
