Word from Bob Pumphrey that, after a very serious bout with pneumonia, he is now settled in new quarters at #A55 Monaco Ridge, 10101 Double R Blvd., Reno, NV 89521 near his son, Dave. Before his illness Bob had written a book titled Soldiers By Accident, an 1872-1884 story, published in December 2003.

A note from Morrie Stein indicates that he is tiring, and would be happy to have someone take over his job as head agent—a job he has done so well for such a long time. Tom Luey, who has health problems, including poor eyesight, says he is "struggling along." His wife, Joan, reports that after missing a year they hope to sail their boat in Ontario again next year. Sub Harris says: "Things at Nashua Crossing about the same—but it is lonesome without Marion." That is a situation many of us can sympathize with, having been through it ourselves.

On a brighter note, Sumner Burrows' widow, Jane, reports that one of his seven granddaughters will graduate from Dartmouth in June of 2004. Also, Jan has a new address: 22.88 Broadway, San Francisco, CA 94115-1240.

Meantime, Bob Button is still leading a swing band, playing music of the 1930s and 40s. And he plays the organ at two church services on Sundays. Bob's wife, the also versatile Decima, is busy singing anthems and blues. And Gerry Kappler, in Jacksonville, Florida, says: "I keep busy volunteering and sing in our chorus, plus travel to New York and San Francisco to see our sons."

It is nice to end on another happy note: Betty Williams and Clay Mellor announced their wedding on October 24,2003. Congratulations!
