Our Cape Cod mini—a week away as I write this at the end of June—is expected to draw about 20 stalwarts to Old Sea Pines Inn in Brewster: Louis and Don McCorkindale, Anne and Bing Donaldson, Susie and Bob Gray, Jan and Farmer Mead, Jacqueline and Howie Thomas, Jean and Bob Grant, Pat McArdle and Doc Fielding, Ann and John Keefe, Louise and Pres Brooks, Hugh Lena and Andy Caffrey. A quality group if small! We hope a few more may register interest and be able to attend. Paul and Betsy Randall had to bow out because of physical ailments while Bud Miskell and wife Betty had a conflict I think Bud is in a bike riding contest of some kind!). Speaking of the Miskells, they recently returned from Washington and the dedication of the WW II Memorial. Bud was most impressed with the 8th Air Force exhibit. Orie Hebard recently wrote, commenting on the "grand time we had together in Panama" several years ago and declining with regret the invitation to our Cape mini—Buffalo is a bit of a hike from Cape Cod! Bob Ehinger recently wrote about winter in Vero Beach and visits with neighbors Rose and Tom McManus and Thirsa and Bob Fuiks. Art Lynn wrote about the loss of Bob Stokes and hearing from Bob's wife, Carolyn. The Dartmouth Medical School class notes for 1943 by Frank West carry an interesting story about George Rider. Titled "Doctor George Rider served his fellow man well," the lengthy letter recounts Georges extraordinary dedication to his patients. Paraphrasing West: When George Rider was a small boy he knew he wanted to be a doctor. Although he was an exceptional athlete, his focus was on medicine. Following Dartmouth and Navy medical training he moved to Tulare, California, to begin practice. He volunteered time doing autopsies, he bartered with patients who could not pay, he missed family vacations because he wouldn't leave sick patients and he dealt with personal and family tragedies along the way. When some doctors refused care of old people—no money in it—Dr. Rider was there.

Recent deaths are Ted Driscoll, Stan Calder, Bill

Woythaler and Fred Wallis. Our condolences to each family. Fall mini: October 8-9! Stay well!
