Passing through Houston around Christmas I phoned Ed Tuffly, whom I confused by calling Louis. His reunion plans are vague, but I asked him to consider seriously Ed's son is doing fine as a Dartmouth undergraduate, though coming home to Texas on the holidays makes him wonder whether the long trek and cold winter are worth it (must be the coeds at Rice). . . . Couldn't reach Bill Thaxton. His Houston newspaper ad says, "Call the Man With the Big T Plan," features smiling Bill m a photo, fingers crossed in T-fashion. "We will insure anyone," says the Thaxton copy, ard remembering a few hairy moments in my travels, I wonder if I should put our friendship to the test.

Grace and George Van Petten always send an attractive Christmas card. This year's spelled out The Van Pettens with the first letter of each rhyming line. The lambic Pentameter was worthy of Sanborn House. Van is chief of surgery, Chelsea Naval Hospital, Boston, where he enjoys the association with Boston surgery and a fine group of residents and staff. Children Karl, Robert, and Brud attend Brookline schools. Van's various tours of duty worldwide reminds me he must be approaching twenty years of Naval service. How many years would you have had now if you had stayed in?
Most of the wedding bells for this group have rung out. Latest were for Myra Ellen Moss of San Marino, Calif., and John Millburn, Palo Alto, married October 20, 1963. Myra is completing her Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins while John is an M.D., who left Dartmouth early, graduated from Colorado College, Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia, and after military duty practices in the Palo Alto area, where they will live.
Very thoughtful letter from Barbara Von Wedel reporting that she and the children have settled down in their home in Puerto Rico and that one day she hopes son Randy will attend Dartmouth. Barbara has established at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine the Jerrold Von Wedel Cardiovascular Fund, which will be used by the Department of Surgery for research activities in memory of Jerry. This is a fine cause, and I hope classmates supporting Jerry's ideals will send funds c/o General Manager, Medical School, San Juan 22, Puerto Rico.
