Pete writes that he is O.K. now and will meet Thompson and his turkey in Hanover, Commencement week. Alas! Mrs. Thurston and I shall have to go without our slices of that turkey for at the time Thompson will carve it we must be going to State College, Pa. to see our second oldest grandson, Henry W. Thurston Third, graduate from High School.

Pete has received a letter from Wales in which he tells of the lively times that old "Bed Bug Alley" in Dartmouth Hall used to see. He also says that, during his senior year with Pete in Reed Hall, Prof. Parker on "Beer Night" made an inspection trip through that building, but discovered nothing wrong.

I have heard these things about Dr. Thomas Jefferson Harris and Mrs. Harris -who have spent the winter in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Harris addressed the April meeting of the Arizona State Medical Society, and has been made the President and Chairman of the Board of Advisers of the Arizona Society for the Hard of Hearing. The Arizona climate agrees with both Tommy and Mrs. Harris. They plan to spend another winter in Tucson "where everybody is most kindly." Tommy will leave Mrs. Harris in the west during the summer, but he himself must attend the 73d Annual meeting of the American Otological Society at the Westchester Country Club, Rye, N. Y., on May 30-31. At that time Tommy will be the guest of honor in recognition of his services as President for 14 years and as secretary for a longer time than has been the record of any other man.

Congratulations Tommy.

Thurston's son Robert is with the Asphalt Division of the Texaco Co. which has recently furnished over three million tons of asphalt for the new LaGuardia Airport in New York City. His daughter's oldest son, Arthur, has an appointment to enter West Point in July. He lives in Montclair near Thurston, and has been a member of the junior division of the Essex Troop. Thurston, accompanied by Mrs. Thurston, recently attended a White House conference on Child Welfare, a subject which has been his chief life interest.
