A New Year, and those of us who returned to Hanover from vacation firmly believe that a new order has taken over in the weather department. Winter still seems as far away as graduation next June. It hasn't been particularly cold and the snow bunnies are wondering if they shouldn't have waited until next year before they bought their new equipment. Bill Riley wonders if the hockey team ever will play a game on home ice this year. It's a very unusual season that sees the Green hockey team with only two games under the proverbial belt with half the season already gone. By the way, Bill and Bev Riley are now the proud parents of a baby girl born on January 3. Both mother and daughter are doing nicely.

Marriage and Engagement Department: Jack "The Growler" Whitman and Jean Blakely of Belmont, Mass. announced their engagement on Christmas Eve. No date has been set for the wedding. Warren Kealey and Alberta Maifield of Waverly, Va. are to be married the latter part of January. Bill Hart and Ursula Anglim of Fitchburg, Mass. have also announced their engagement. GeorgeRiley and Jeanne Linnehan of Jamaica Plain are engaged. Don Forgays and Janet Wakefield of Shelton, Conn, are in the same group. Don is studying for his Ph.D. at McGill. JimKearney and Katherine Kinsella round out the engaged people for this month. I was under the impression that June was the proper month for such things but evidently I've been misinformed. jS note from Brad Morrison tells of his marriage to Carolyn Matthews of Kittery, Me. Brad is associated with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Portland. Claude Venon and Joanne McCoy of NYC were married in that city the latter part of November. Claude is now on the faculty of the Columbia Grammar School.

George Hopkins has been appointed Group Supervisor of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. in their Springfield office. HalBowman and family are in Maracaibo, Venezula, where Hal is in the oil business. EdWaring is a student at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Dick Morron is in London studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatics. "Doc" Wexler is a graduate student in the Anatomy Dept. at Stanford. That sounds like interesting work. John L. E. Wolff is a med student at Temple Medical School in Philly. Bud Wingate is working for a flour mill in Minneapolis. Dave Stephenson is at the Mary Hitchcock here in Hanover.

You'll notice that all the class notes are a little shorter than usual this month. The reason is that this is the annual Alumni Fund Report issue and that it takes a great deal of room to cover this with proper attention. However, with the next issue we'll be back to the regular length article, so let's hear from some of you fellows that haven't written in for a long time!

Fund Contributors for 1948 282 Gifts (Participation Index 52). Total gifts: $2,038.00 (53% of objective). THOMAS K. BURNAP, Class Agent.
