We're right in the middle of the football season again. Seems good, doesn't it? I'm expecting to hear whom you sat beside and whom they were with.
Bear with us, for a few paragraphs, and we will summarize the engagements and marriages, some as ancient as last May.
Engaged during May, and planning a September wedding, were Miss Jacqueline Marie Murphy and Donald Delahanty, now interning at the Flushing Hospital, presumably in New York. Lt. Leon Fiske and Miss Nancy Lou Kelly were also engaged in May. She is a service representative at the New England Telephone and Telegraph office in Greenfield, Mass., and Lee is presently in the U.S. Navy. Dave Huntoon became engaged in August to Miss Ann Jermyn Richards, a Smith College graduate, and at that time associated with Georg Jensen, Inc., Danish silver and artware dealers in New York. Dave was associated with the Naval Air Arm for two years and is now with Packaging Materials Corp., manufacturers of corrugated paper.
Dr. George Cohn was engaged during September to Miss Constance Margaret Loeb, a Vassar college graduate, and a December wedding is planned. George is presently resident physician at Kings County Hospital. A November wedding is planned by Miss Jeanne Cook and Ted Meier. Ted is presently a pilot for Robinson Airlines of Ithaca.
Bob Mortimer was engaged in September to Miss Mary Sherman. Mary has attended Stanford, and is now studying at Northwestern, while Bob is an account executive for Merrill Lynch, Pierce Fenner, and Beane in Chicago. A July wedding was planned by Miss Elizabeth Gildersleeve and George Phippen at the time of their engagement in April. Elizabeth is presently an English teacher at the Hanover (Mass.) High School, while George is instructing in geography at Dartmouth and is at the same time a candidate for the degree of Master of Arts at Syracuse University.
Bob Rowland was engaged in July to Miss Virginia Stead. Bob was planning at that time to leave Lumberman's Insurance Co. of Hartford in favor of the USNR. Miss Nancy Bancroft Speth of Wellesley was engaged in May to Don Start, when last heard from some four long years ago a junior accountant with Stewart Watts and Bollong.
That's the engagements, so now let's sift through the marriage announcements and see how many, of the planned marriages, previously listed, took place as expected. Found only one —the Phippens were married July 12 in Newcastle, Mass., and planned a wedding trip to Canada. Perry Anderson was married May 3 to the former Miss Virginia Agnes Hughes. Perry has been associated for several years with the Gulf Oil Corp. and is presently with them in Syracuse, N. Y.
The former Miss Virginia Frank and BobBach were married May 24. Bob is a member of the industrial relations department of the Philadelphia Navy Yard and is coach of the Swarthmore College wrestling team. The former Miss Jeanne Auray and John Bill were married July 12 in Oakville, Conn. Both are with the Naugatuck Chemical Division of the U. S. Rubber Co.
We are later than usual reporting the marriage on April 26 of the former Miss Patricia Norah Gilmore to Bill Dahlin. They planned a wedding trip to Bermuda. Bill is associated with the Scientific American magazine. SkipDickinson was married May 18 to the former Miss Cornelia Wilde in West Hartford, Conn. Skip is associated with Connecticut Light and Power Co. The Dwengers were married May 21; she is the former Miss Janet Tweed of Montclair, N. J.
Married September 6 were George Gerrish and the former Miss Jean Sutherland, in Naugatuck, Conn. Best man was GeorgeLezius. George Gerrish is a salesman with International Business Machines in Buffalo, N. Y. P. J. Henegan was married September 6 in Rockville Center, N. Y., to the former Miss Ann Louise Selinger. The bride is a nurse, and the couple will live in Brunswick, Me. The former Miss Jane Connelly was married May 10 in Chestnut Hills, Mass., to WinkieLynn. This is the first news item we have had about Winkie since he finished at Tuck School in 1950. Joe Scandore was married June 1 in East Orange, N. J., to the former Miss Harriett Ethel Clemence. Joe is now in business in Paterson, N. J.
Chuck Schicke was married to the former Miss Jane Hastings Wallerstein in Westport, Conn., June 20. We have lost track of Chuck since 1949 when he was a graduate student in English at Columbia University. GeneWhittier was married at his home in Winthrop, Mass., June 3 to the former Miss Lucille Sage Scott. The day before both received their M.D. degrees from the Boston University Medical School. Gene will interne in Seattle, Wash., at the Swedish Hospital.
Ensign Herb Wik was married recently to the former Miss Irene Grace Park in April. The Wiks will live in Norfolk, Va., after a wedding trip to Key West, Fla. Hank Williams was married July 29 in Sudbury, Mass., to the former Miss Virginia Wannberg. Virginia was formerly an X-ray technician, and Hank is a salesman with L. McCoy and Co., a wholesale lumber firm. They will live in Jamestown, N. Y.Atlas Zeller was married June 14 in Manhasset, L. I., to the former Miss Barbara Jean Whiting. Al is presently a student at the medical school of McGill University.
Capt. Bob Ferguson, USMC, is now stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Clint Holton is a civil engineer with Harris and Davis of Caribou, Me. Andy McCulloch is a TV coordinator with NBC in NYC. Mo Morrison is a salesman with Roddis Plywood and Door Co., Cambridge, and is living in Springfield, Mass. Frank Porta continues as an electrical draftsman with Carbide and Chemical Corp. in Charleston, W. Va.
Dave Russell is an auditor with the Stanley Works in New Britain, Conn. Jim Lynch is a paper merchant with Bulkley, Dunton Co. Inc. in NYC.
