Judging by the amount of news I have received during the past month, it seems as though '48's must go into hibernation in winter just as other creatures do in the animal kingdom. It is an interesting fact that so few of us move, get married, have babies, change jobs, gain promotions during these long winter months, or could it be that I just don't hear about it? Anyway, things aren't quite as bad as they sound because I do have a few items that our Newsletter Editor, Jack Taylor, didn't happen to find out before me.

Recently, Arthur and Gloria Hendler moved into a new house in Mineola, Long Island. The Hendlers' daughter Susan is getting to be a big girl now that she just passed the one-year mark. Arthur is an engineer and department manager with Airborne Instruments, a division of Cutler Hammer Corp. He reports that he and his neighbor Bill Wheeler, who has a son about the same age as Susan, do their Sunday baby strolling together. Another classmate nearby is Ira Robbins. Ira and Sue have two boys.

Any of you who reside in the Boston area and of course eat brick oven baked beans must be sure to ask for Friends'. Our own Walt Friend, who has been selling for Friend Brothers, Inc. since graduation, was recently made vice president in charge of advertising. I hope Walt finds a little spare time to keep up his golf game.

Bill Campbell is administrative expediter for the Permutit division of the Pfaudler Corp. in New York City. Bill and Jean live in Montclair, N. J., where Bill is the treasurer of the Young Republican Club. The Campbell's children are Sharon, eight; Sheila, six, and Gordon, three-and-a-half.

Previously I announced the engagement of Jack Jansing and Shelley Bush. On January 17 they were married in St. Louis, Mo., the home of the bride. After a wedding trip, they will reside in New. York.

Last October, Jerry and Dianne Zins moved into a new house in Short Hills, N. J. They needed room for Johnny, five and Andy, two, and finally they were able to find it. Jerry is a doctor specializing in internal medicine. He is in private practice with his brother. While in residency, Jerry spent a lot of time with Dr. Larry Werther. Larry and his family live in Englewood, N. J., which makes it quite convenient for him to commute to Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, where Larry is a resident physician.

Also in medicine in New York are John Price and Marvin Hader. They are both specializing in Psychiatry. John has a private practice and in addition is on the staff of Lenox Hill Hospital specializing in the field of Child Psychiatry. Marvin is in his last year of residency at Bronx Veterans Association Hospital. Previously, Marvin had interned at the Mayo Clinic. John reports that they are doing some advanced study together at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York.

Lou Kraff must have a very interesting job and he will certainly be well informed on all the recent space developments. Lou is doing some advanced research engineering at Airforce Cambridge Research Center in Cambridge, Mass.

Representing the American Foreign Insurance Company in Trinidad, British West Indies, for the next two years will be David Walsh. Dave and his family formerly lived in New Jersey while Dave worked with the same company in New York.

Even though Jack Taylor's Newsletter gave you most of the news about Sabe Basescu - tie is a psychotherapist practicing in Manhattan and living in Larchmont, N. Y., I want to officially note the birth of his daughter Maria on Sept. 9, 1958.

Ron and Patience Spiers are living in Alexandria, Va., as Ron is currently working for the State Department in nearby Washington. He is one of the rising young men in the department and from time to time has attended United Nations sessions as advisor on American policy.

I was very happy to hear that Herb Shulman seems to be doing very well. Herb is now president of Tri-State Container Corp. in Elizabethton, Tenn. His home address is 900 Woodland Ave., Johnson City, Tenn.

Riley Franklin has left his home town of Rockland, 111., and moved to St. Louis, Mo., to be an engineer with McDonnell Aircraft Corp. He is living with his family at 9153 Ramona Ave., St. Louis.

Other changes of address are listed below:

H. Keith McLoud, USNR GTG, 201 Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla.; Frederick K. McTarjiahan, Route 2, Box 694 N., Tuscon, Ariz.; Frederick Maloney, 151 Oak St., Westwood, Mass.; Leonard Robinson Jr., c/o National Aluminate, 6216 West 66th Place, Chicago 38, Ill.; Eugene Rohloff, 3936 North Lowell Ave., Chicago 41, Ill.; Leonard K. Sullivan, 2240 Cobblehill Place, San Mateo, Calif.; William A. Warnock, 336 West Wilkins, Jackson, Mich.; George L. Woods Jr., 192 Conlyn Ave., Franklin, Mass.; Dr. Jerome H. Zins, 21 Farmstead Road, Short Hills, N. J.; Douglas C. Patton, c/o Patton, 7545 Ayres Road, Cincinnati, Ohio; John P. Wood, 5013 Kiamesha, Mesquite, Tex., and Lt. Robert P. Bartely, 8844 Bellefontaine Road, Dayton 24, Ohio.

That about completes the news picture thismonth. See you when the crocuses startblooming.
