JUNE 1959 LEONARD E. MORRISSEY, JOHN D. DODD

As reported in the Memoriam section, we have regretfully lost another classmate. Wendell Richardson died from injuries received in an automobile accident on March 30.

Twoters back to Hanover the last weekend in April had a most pleasant little reunion. With ideal weather and a do-as-you-please motif it was a typically congenial and restful gathering. We sat and chatted and strolled around town. Some had a good workout watching Dartmouth defeat Harvard at rugby. A few aesthetes even attended a music festival in Webster. Saturday evening we had a delightful dinner at Keenes in the lovely hills of Etna. Later at the Inn we had an evening of "Remember the time?" and "I had a Dream, Dear," etc., etc. Our only chagrin was lack of overtures to us from the music festival.

With classmates, families and friends we had 46 members in our clan for all or part of the weekend. They were: Bob and Lois Booth, Harry and Peg Bruckner with son Harry Jr. '60, Bill Bullen (we missed Odie Lee - hope she's feeling better), Haskell and Harriet Cohn, Carroll and Nan Dwight, Tony and Eleanor Hanlon with sons Tim and Terry, Carter and Alie Hoyt, Fran and Lucy Leland, Bill and Betty Mann with son John '62, Andy and Charlotte Marshall, John and Pat McKoan with nephew Paul Foley '60, Stan and Catherine Miner with daughter Constance (Mount Holyoke '60) and escort Robert Rhines '60, Len and Margaret Morrissey with Len Jr., wife Winnie and son Tom, Olie and Elspeth Olsen, Walt and Doris Sands with son Bob '59, daughter Sylvia (Vassar '62) and escort John Baldwin '59, Spenny and Marje Smith, Dick and Ruth Wood. All of us thank Carroll Dwight for the arrangements including the weather.

From Judge Sterry Waterman comes the news that our highly regarded Connecticut lawyer, Joseph E. Talbot has been renominated by President Eisenhower to serve for another six years, until June, 1965, as a member of the U. S. Tariff Commission. Congratulations and best wishes from the clan to Joe and Grace.

Thanks to Dr. Dick Wood comes the news that Prof. Herbert F. West delivered the 1959 Kate Hurd Mead Lecture at the College of Physicians in Philadelphia on April 1. Herb was also honored at a formal dinner at which some of his writings were exhibited. Writings, watercolors, or some of both, Herb? New Hampshire papers had still more news about Herb as a result of the guest lecturer to his classes on April 24. His guest lecturer was Miss Friedelind Wagner, granddaughter of the famed composer, Richard Wagner.

Our W. Lloyd Barnard is leading an active life as assistant vice president of the Hanover Bank, New York City, and as a prominent citizen in his home town, Elizabeth, N. J. Barney has been in investments and banking since he got his Master's from Tuck School 36 years ago. He has now been appointed to a three-year term on the Elizabeth Board of Education. In accepting this appointment he is switching from his former post as Police Commissioner to the school board because his banking experience will be more valuable there. He has also served as treasurer of the Elizabeth Town and Country Club and is a former vestryman at St. John's Episcopal Church. Best wishes from all of us to Barney and Dorothy who live at 219 Edgar Place, Elizabeth.

Dick and Mary Litchfield announce the wedding of their daughter Elizabeth Ann to Benjamin Franklin Werner Jr. of Setauket, L. I., N. Y. Betty is a graduate of Dana Hall and Denison University. Her husband is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is now studying for his Master's degree at Adelphi College.

The clan has another engagement. Eric andHelen Malmquist have announced the engagement of their daughter Elin to Don C. Skinner, son of Mrs. Ruth M. Skinner of Chautauqua, N. Y., and the late Dr. Clifford W. Skinner. Both the young people are doing graduate work at Yale Divinity School. Elin is an alumna of Vassar and Don is an alumnus of Allegheny College.

Can't stay set, we're moving around again with four new addresses from east to west: E. Graham Bates, 185 Devonshire St., Boston 10, Mass.; B. Dawson Berry, Veterans Hospital, Dublin, Ga.; John P. Mathews, 2526 North Columbus, Tucson, Ariz.; Jere L. Robinson, 4109 Front St., San Diego, Calif. Good luck to all members of the quartet.

Now off to Hanover expecting to see Bill Bullen, Jack Dodd, Carroll Dwight and Steve Kenyon at meetings of the officers of all classes. As president of the Class Agents Association, Jack Dodd will preside at that important meeting.

A happy and healthful summer to all the clan everywhere. And before it begins, consider fully and realistically what Dartmouth means to you. In gratitude and loyalty, if you have not already done so, won't you now pledge a share to Dartmouth? And if you have already "shared," have you done all you really can do? The College needs help from all of us. The Capital Gifts Campaign is still $3 million below its objective and there is no Santa Claus other than all of us together.
