Greetings again. Thanks to those festive ones who sent Christmas cards there is news this month. Our man in New Zealand, Alex McGinnis, writes that he is absorbing all kinds of knowledge while studying on a Rotary scholarship down there. Dick andElaine Chase are still in Singapore and will be there for about two more years. Dick is playing a little rugby and Elaine is expecting in May. That will be two for them. While we're in the area - those two princes of the Orient, Roy Eisenhardt, and Eric Anderson, are still out there with the Marines. Last word received says they may be going to Viet Nam for awhile. Mari and I received a rather unusual Oriental wood carving of a bird from them that they must have picked up in their exciting travels.
Al and Betsy Stowe are in Charlottesville, Va., at Law School. Future plans call for a trek north for some skiing. Axel Grabowsky writes that he runs into many 60's while working in New York. George and CarolPotts are living on the Westside while George is working for The Bank of New York. Phil Clark is also in New York and is with J. C. Penney.
An interesting note came to me signed by "the last of the vanishing bachelors," RayPong. Seems that Ray is concerned over the fact that out of the six '60's who started B.U. Med School he is the only one not married or engaged. Howie Frankel,Ray Dilworth, and Shao Wai Snen were married this past summer, and the other two were recently engaged - Dave Frankel to Patricia Graham and Jack Kline to Genny Jones. Won't one of you married boys ask Ray over for dinner? .
Mitch Engle writes that he just finished Basic Training at Pensacola, and will now go to Corpus Christi for five months. He says he has been out of touch with everyone and will get his discharge just in time to make our 1965 reunion. Don Betterton was also at Pensacola, and is now stationed in Louisiana. Bob Becker was recently commissioned after graduating from Pre-Flight Schools in Pensacola.
BABY NEWS. Bruce and Pat Clark are the parents of Bruce Jr., who was born on December 5, in Seattle. Bruce is at the University of Washington working as a teaching fellow in the School of Business Administration. Art Pritchard and wife Ann Mari had a boy, John Lewis, on December 13. They are living in Concord, N. H., where Art is with IBM. And as we go to press Jerry and Kay Boyle are expecting on January 16. The Boyles are now in Denver where Jerry is also with IBM.
Bryant Barnes and Mary Jane Young were married in October. They will be living in Kansas City, Mo. Also married this fall were Connie Borns and Virginia Arbuckle. They will be in Rhodes, Greece, where Connie is with the Coast Guard. Bob Harvey married Nancy Perkins on November 4. They are now living in Northampton, Mass. Barry Sibson and Pris Man-thorpe were married October 28, in Havertown, Pa. If memory serves me Barry is in architect school in Philadelphia. Roli Kolraan married Mimi Izzard, sister of Ted '59, in Kansas City on December 27. Roli is now engrossed in a two-year on-the-job training program with the U.S. Army. Greg Fellows married Sally Kinnard in Minneapolis sometime in November.
Had a few with Mike Hollern and RustyIngersoll in Minneapolis over the holidays. Rusty and wife Pat are still living in Bend, Ore., where Russ is finishing up his training program with Brooks Scanlon Lumber Company. Rusty's tig achievements include staying out of the Army and the acquisition of a dog which they named Jeremiah, in rememberance of some hockey coach. As I mentioned last month the Hollerns are in Palo Alto.
Zoo Gazely, wife Abbie, and daughter Barbara Kay (July 27) are living in Birmingham, Mich. Zoo is a salesman for American Hospital Supply in the Detroit area. He reports that the boys at the University of Michigan grad schools, McCarter,Hackett, and Gray, are raising all kinds of ned down there. I've had this report confirmed by several people.
That time is approaching again. We are in the process of setting up a class agents' team for this year's fund drive. So now is the time to start stashing away a few bills for "'Dear Old D." The agents will get in touch later this spring.
And finally this month there is a tragic note in our news. Alden Van Buskirk died on December 11, in San Francisco, after a short illness.
Keep the letters and cards coming. I'll print just about anything.
