The cross country team is having difficulties this fall, with the exception of one runner, in placing men well up in the final standings of any race.

Junior Lee Daneker of Cranston, R. I., is leading the field. He finished first against Manhattan as Dartmouth lost 20-43 and was also the best Indian runner in a triangular meet with Yale and Columbia in which the Green was second.

In both races to date the other Dartmouth runners finished well behind Daneker. If some of these other men can improve, the Indians could well win one of the three remaining races. The '63 cross country team was hurt by the loss of two key sophomores, one through an injury and the other because of ineligibility.
