Countdown has been appropriate in the missile era recently, but how about us reversing it and playing Countup: 1. Reunion — 30 days away; 2. Alumni Fund — 40 days until the end.

We should all plan on counting up the many pleasures we can have by joining '53's "Return to Hanover for our 10th - June 21-23." Certainly none of us has blood so thin that the sight of Baker Library against a June sky — or Dartmouth Row illuminated at night cannot add unlimited joy for us and our loved ones. Dick Blum and his committee have spared no effort and thought to bring you the finest reunion at the lowest cost possible. So why say more - except it's a date. June 21-23 in Hanover. With all the wonderful excitement about Reunion at hand, let's not forget the very important and mandatory task at hand of raising $1,250,000 for Dartmouth's 1963 Alumni Fund Campaign. Ed Condit, our newly appointed head class agent, is the guy with the experience, know how, and the class agent team working for him to put our class solidly on top of the little Green Derby as usual. All Ed needs is our help in dollars and participation. Our job is to give as much as we can - aiming for a target of at least $25.00 per man. Let's walk into Hanover on June 21 with our heads high and our alumni record unequalled and unsurpassed. We have always exceeded our quota and won the little Green Derby the past 5 years. We are recognized by Hanover and our contemporaries as an "outstanding class." Reputations are kept by those who continue to earn them. Please mail your contribution off to Hanover today. Their dollar needs are great. We are in a position to help perpetuate Dartmouth as a modern liberal arts college which has given us so much and will continue to do more for generations to come.

A recent Los Angeles dinner for President and Mrs. Dickey was a huge success. I had the pleasure of receiving and breaking bread with Perry Free, Tom McCrea, John Cernuis, and Bob Newsom and their brides, plus Pete Reich and his new April bride, Louise Trotti. By the way, both Ted andPatti Spiegel and I were thrilled to be able to join in a mammoth party for Pete and Louise on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles, overlooking the whole San Fernando Valley! What a view - what a party (not dry, at all!)! Ted and Patti spent a weekend in the Los Angeles area and are thrilled with the prospects of spending 6-8 months living in Germany starting in July of this year. "Der Spiegel" makes the headlines again! Ted reports a fun ski-weekend in March with DickBlum and Edie, and Fred Carleton on hand in Aspen. Both "Olympic Skiers" Ted and Fred sprained their ankles.

WEDDING BELLS: On March 10 in Shreveport, La., Dick Calkins took pretty Anita Adcock as his bride. A guard wedding which saw in attendance Capt. KarlZimmerman flying up from Pensacola, Fla., Don Smith driving from Mississippi and myself flying from the West. Dick and Anita will live in Chicago at 1550 N. Lake Shore Drive. A trip to New Orleans, Montego Bay, and parts of South America were on the honeymoon travel agenda. One month earlier on February 16 John Kennedy heard the wedding march as he met Barbara Chiaramonte of Norwich, Conn., at the altar. A wedding trip to Nassau put the finishing touches on their memorable day. Barbara is a grad of Norwich Free Academy and Bryant College in Providence, R.I., and is employed by the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics. Do you suppose John met his bride in the corridor since he works as an engineer at the same plant. Congratulations to you all from all of us.

UP THE LADDER - Warren Smith has recently been appointed manager of the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co. in Orange, N. J. Previously, Warren was commercial staff supervisor in general rate and development supervisor's office in East Orange. Fred England, Treasurer of W.B. Hastings & Co., Inc. of Cambridge, Mass.. has been elected a director of the Saugus Cooperative Bank. He is the third generation of his family elected to serve the bank. Fred is pitching in also as director of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents and the Emery Insurance Agency of Boston. What do you do between 1 A.M.-4 A.M. every day, Fred?

MORSELS OF EARTH NEWS - JohnCorbell now a grocery buyer in Minneapolis for Pacific Gamble Robinson Co.; HobartDamon with U. S. Army Engineers in Waltham, Mass.; Don Foote at McGill University in their Geography Dept.; SandyLearned at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute at Woods Hole, Mass.; John Singleton a doctor and practicing in Shawnee Mission, Kan.; Roger Wells in Seattle working for the National Bank of Commerce of Seattle: and Fred Hitt chosen to head the Red Cross Drive in Cheshire, Conn., this year.

Okay, Gang, that's it for now - Reunion and Alumni Fund giving, I hope, are uppermost in your mind at this very moment!
