Summer is now with us, but so still is the Alumni Drive with the '47's desperately trying to get out of third place in the little Green Derby. One dollar or a million - but do send something if you haven't already.

It was indeed sad to receive word of the death of Dick Lash last February. We don't know the cause, but certainly the sympathy of the class goes out to his family in Indianapolis. Dick was extremely active in community affairs where he lived in Farmersburg and in state of Indiana politics for the Republican Party. As is our custom, the Class will of course donate a book to Baker Library with the book-plate carrying the In Memoriam to Dick.

The Great Northern Paper Company is making good use of Harry Graves where he is a Senior Engineer. In the middle of winter they sent him from the cold Minnesota north to Blakely, Ga., and now as the weather becomes tolerable, they have moved him to Millinocket, Me. This sounds like a great way to follow the seasons, Harry, especially with the company picking up the tab.

Thornton Wierum, who joined ranks with J. Walter Thompson advertising agency of New York back in 1953 as a member of the legal staff, has been appointed Administrator of their broadcast department. Thornton, according to the news release sent out by his employer, has made frequent contributions in the broadcasting area in negotiations with networks, program packagers, and talent agencies from coast to coast and from, this came the know-how to run the whole show. He and his wife and three - daughters live in Westport, Conn.

Heard from Jeff Mills recently. He's now living at 410 Australian Avenue, Palm Beach, Fla., but said he would be coming to New York sometime in May. Since the executive committee meeting was set for June 17, we hope he will be able to alter his plans to fit that date.

The Class certainly seems to have a higher than normal interest in the welfare of nurses, with the latest episode being a discussion on "Economic Security and Professional Status of Nurses," given by Prof.Herman Gadon in Portsmouth, N. H. Herman is Associate Professor of Business Administration at the University of New Hampshire. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Economics in 1955 at MIT and then worked in industrial management for 14 years prior to going with the University of New Hampshire.

And back to Minnesota. Ed Peters, pardon us Dr. Edward M. Peters, has just been elected Chairman of the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company's Technical Forum. Ed holds both a Master of Science Degree and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the State University of lowa. The Forum, which is composed of 150 delegates and alternates representing all of 3M's technical personnel, directs a variety of programs designed to promote the exchange of scientific information.

Don't forget - any amount, hopefully big - but send to Hanover before June 30.
