Due to higher printing costs, the ALUMNI MAGAZINE is extolling the virtues of concise copy in our column. I know you'll be sorry to hear that I'm no longer allowed to deplore the lack of news or include my rambling ruminations in the column. This doesn't mean that we still aren't in dire need of news every month. I promise not to mention it again, but please, send us some news.
Jim Zeisel has been named Midwest District Manager of two McGraw-Hill publications. The major publisher has appointed him advertising sales manager of Nation's Schools and College and University Business. Our little community of Rye added two 53's this past month. Dick McCostis made the move to the suburbs from New York City and Byron Menides moved east from Chicago. Byron was president of International Accountants Society, Inc. who recently merged with Famous Artists Schools. I haven't seen Byron yet, but understand he is now a vice president with Famous Artists. Byron was also recently appointed to the Accrediting Commission of the National Home Study Council. The Commission establishes standards for private home study schools.
Fred Fedeli has been elected a second vice president of State Mutual Life Assurance Company of America in Worcester. Fred joined State Mutual in 1957 in the securities branch. He was appointed security analyst in 1960 and named assistant treasurer in 1961. As reported last year, he was named director, special investments branch and assistant treasurer in February. Fred, his wife, and three children live in Westboro.
A press clipping from last May announced the engagement of Tom Bagg to Ingeborg Radomski. A May wedding was planned. Tom is a tax counsel with Mobile Oil Corp. Dick Lombard's sister Janet is staying in the Dartmouth family. She became engaged last August to Fred Stephens and they will be married this fall. Fred is general sales manager of the Blade Division of Gillette Safety Razor Company. He and Janet live in Boston.
Mary Lou and Ralph Heyman had a daughter, Ginger Florence, on May 9. Ginger is their third child.
I couldn't close this column without commenting on the fine job Jack Newton and his class agents did on the 1967 Alumni Fund Campaign. Our Class won the Green Derby (the seventh win in the past eight years), led all classes in the number of contributors, and established a new class gift total of over $32,000.00.
