From the sunny shores of Nassau comes the word that Frank Mace is still busy in the investment field. Frank, now president of Gresham Securities, Ltd., reports that "Tax advantages and the jet aircraft have made Nassau a factor in international finance. I resigned from Bache & Co. a year ago to accept this opportunity. It is a pleasant place to live and my business travel is in Europe and South America as well as the U.S. If you travel to Nassau, do stop in."
A man of many talents is Detroit's TomCandler, president of Candler-Rusché, Inc., a foundation piling and marine construction firm. Tom, not content to stay busy with building marine piers, and foundations for Ford Motor Co., Milwaukee's Veterans' Hospital and Detroit's First Federal Savings Bank, finds time to build Christian character as he superintends the revolutionary seventh and eighth grade church school in his Grosse Pointe Presbyterian Church. Headlined "Now It's Tuesday School" in the Detroit Free-Press, this program, aimed at the early teen-age pupils, who ordinarily leave church school, meets on a week day with pupils working through afternoon projects, dinner and evening class sessions. According to our reliable source of information, Tom also is currently helping to organize the Romney drive for '68 - the Michigan governor will be a shoo-in if he has many more like Tom in his corner. While not staying busy with all the above, Tom and Kaye live quietly in Grosse Pointe Shores with their three daughters, age five to thirteen.
Harry Figgie, of Automatic Sprinkler Corp. and corporation merger fame, is now a member of the Young Presidents Organization according to our correspondent from that body, Eliot Mover - with all the '45 firm presidents available, we ought to be able to pack the membership!!
A recent move within the Westinghouse Corp. has taken Tom Lantzas to Washington with his new responsibility for marketing the corporate oceanographic and ocean engineering systems and capabilities. Tom previously had been with the industrial electronics division and underseas division in Baltimore. As one who has only a speaking acquaintance with such things thanks to the Navy and a strictly minimal scuba exposure, I can only nod in wonderment as Tom writes about such things as "deep diving submersible vehicles - such as our Deepstar 4000 which goes to 4000 feet, closed and semi-closed circuit deep diving breathing systems, ocean bottom scanning sonar which was used to recover the H bomb in Spain, (and) antisubmarine warfare sonar." While not pushing Westinghouse, Tom fills his idle hours with Boy Scouts, Navy League, ordinance and marine technical societies, and Little League baseball and basketball coaching. His coaching endeavors in the latter fields have brought his teams three league championships - '45, versatility is thy name!! Tom closes his most informative letter by requesting any '45s passing through Washington to be sure to contact him.
