A tremendous "Wah Hoo Wah" is heard "round the girdled earth" this month, directed to Gerald D. Sarno who has accepted the chairmanship of the Class of 1950's Twentieth Reunion. A nominating committee consisting of Messrs. John Dwyer, Rick Miller, Sandy McCulloch and Joel Leavitt selected Gerry to handle this most important role; he undoubtedly soon will be looking to many of us to fill responsible assignments for this very significant occasion, for although June 1970 still seems a long way off, it really isn't when planning an event of this magnitude. Gerry, a resident of Greenwich, Conn., has been active in many College and Class functions over the years, and we are delighted to have him at the helm for the 20th Reunion; as noted above, however, he'll need the cooperation of many for this to be a successful "happening." Gerry on May 1 takes on a new position as contracting manager for New York sales for the Bethlehem Steel Company.

Contributing to the "Wah Hoo Wah" for Gerry, according to my predecessor in this position and chief reporter in the Chicago area for this column, Scott Olin, was Charles Bond Ray, the first child of Herb and CarolRay, who was born in the Windy City on February 27, 1968. For the parents' sake, I trust that this enthusiasm on the part of the youngster isn't an all-night every night affair, but admire his spirit. A sizable number of children are expected to attend the 20th, with suitable provisions to be made available for various age levels; we may hear more from Master Charles at that time.

Vermont Academy has appointed E. WilliamDey Jr. as Director of Admissions, according to a recent announcement by headmaster Michael Choukas Jr. '51. Bill also will supervise college guidance, teach history and do some coaching. This is quite a change for Bill, who has been connected with advertising and marketing for many years, most recently as vice president and general manager of Wyse Advertising in New York City, but his qualifications including being a Dartmouth history major and a 3-sport letter-winner should add substantially to this prominent secondary school's faculty strength. Dianne and the four Dey children are in the process of moving from Rumson, N. J., to Saxtons River.

Although the hockey season is well behind us, and his attention now is devoted to the tennis courts, John Chapman coached the best sextet ever at the University of Connecticut this year. Chip and family live on Separatist Road in Storrs.

Charles H. Davison, who formerly was partner in charge of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company's Providence, R. I. office and New England regional partner, became partner in charge of the firm's Chicago offices and of the Chicago-Midwest region last fall. 830 Hill Road, Winnetka, Ill. 60093 is the new Davison address.

Life really began at 40 for Bill Cross of Somers, N. Y., when wife Judy was instrumental in bringing together a group of '50's and Tuck '51's to celebrate — or at least sing to - the occasion. We understand that Walt Lindenthal was master of the keys, while Dick Echikson, Sherm Clough, and Gene Ulrich joined with Tom Swartz '49 and Dick Evans (Amherst '49) in singing such familiar favorites as "God Bless Free Enterprise."

John K. Tull has been elected a vice president in the Investment Department of The First National Bank of Chicago. John is in charge of sales of both government and municipal bonds; his bank is one of the nation's largest dealers in these issues. He, Phyllis and their three children reside at 105 Old Oak Drive in Barrington, Ill. Phil Garran has been appointed assistant to the president of Lewis Securities Co., Inc., Hanover, N. H. This firm is a growing securities house, with several branches in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Professor David B. Davis has been elected to the Harold Vyvyan Armsworth Professorship of American History at Queens College, Oxford University, England for the academic year 1969-70. He will be on a leave of absence from Cornell, and will hold a chair whose previous occupants have included Samuel Eliot Morison and Henry Steele Commager.

Brookhaven National Laboratory research specialist and ecologist Dr. George M.Woodwell journeyed northward from Long Island recently to appear as a "Wednesday Program" speaker at Colby Junior College, talking on the subject of "The Pollution of the Environment." George's research includes radioactive air pollution and pollution caused by insecticides.

Some very sad news, reported in detail elsewhere in this issue, involves the sudden death on March 6 of our good friend and classmate, Sherwin C. Badger Jr., of a cerebral hemorrhage. He recently had taken a very responsible position with the Bostonbased organization which is managing Yale's endowment fund. The heartfelt condolences of the class are extended to his wife and family.

Lloyd R. Woodbury has been awarded the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts. Twenty-one other Dartmouth men also were among the 491 successful analysts this year; some 1,700 people took the examination. Lloyd is a vice president of Putnam Management Co., Inc., Boston.

In the new address category, Ralph Amsen has a new Boulder, Colo. 80302 location of 4470 Ludlow. Tor Arneberg has moved to 144 Dundee Road, Stamford, Conn. 06903. Dave Bull has a new Palo Alto, Calif. 94301 address of 1431 Edgewood. Bob Kilraarx hasn't moved, but 56 Elm Lane now is in West Barrington, R. I. 02890; I guess that's a promotion, though, as 84 points were added to his ZIP code. Howard Richmond is located at 4425 Thor Way, Sacramento, Calif. 95825, and John Wulp is situated at 12 Parkway Terrace, Pleasanville, N. Y. 10570.
