We're back in print again this month because some of you felt guilty enough to send me news ... don't rest on your laurels, though, keep that card and letter coming.
Johnny Williams dropped a note from Tuck to announce that his wife Betsy has made him the proud father of twin girls, Ann Sanderson and Eleanor Elizabeth. Both are doing well and keeping their parents busy, but not as busy as the Army kept Johnny for the past four months, and not too busy to report that Lee Turkevich is not only doing well at Cambridge but has taken up crew.
The Times social pages reveal that JeffMcElnea, greedy class agent, is planning an August wedding with Michele McFaull. Jeff has already recruited her to help with his load of Alumni Fund work, and this month it's her turn to remind you to send your check up to Hanover today.
Other wedding plans are in the air as the '71 bachelor ranks decline: Gary Okey and Shelley McCormick sail down the aisle in August, Mike Hannigan and Betty Jo Chalko in June, and Dick Wooster and Brooke Carmichael also in June.
John Eaton, meanwhile, took time off his job to train with the Dartmouth crew in Alabama over spring vacation. John has hopes of seeing Munich this summer and getting another medal for his collection.
It seems as if half the class stayed in New Hampshire after graduation. FetePhilips, coordinator for the New Hampshire Regional Arts Program, has just finished taking an exhibition of computer art for a statewide tour. Tony Owens spent the winter working on an environmental study on the College Grant. The study, sponsored by the Richard King Mellon Foundation, used electronic monitoring devices to evaluate the effects of snowmobiles on wildlife.
Two '71s, Bill Hoover and Bill Riley, have been awarded Reynolds Scholarships for study in Europe. The former will continue the philosophy-politics-economics program he started this year at Jesus College, Oxford; the latter will go to SarreUnion, France, to study pipe organ building.
Finally, Mark Nelson, at Wisconsin Law, has been selected as one of the 28 Wisconsin delegates to the Republican National Convention this summer. The youngest member of the delegation, Mark is also on the Wisconsin Committee to Reelect the President.
That's all. Write and tell me news of your fraternity brothers or roommate or even yourself, I don't care—but not before you write a check to the Alumni Fund.
