The hottest news of the year is that Ed Lider, head of the Fall River Theater Corporation, will now manage the Nugget. Although the Hanover Improvement Society will contine to own the Nugget, Eddie will run it and be responsible for obtaining "better movies than those currently being shown." He will have a hard time, however, surpassing those shown during our days in Hanover. The most memorable movie in your secretary's recollection was one involving American Legionnaires in full uniform traipsing arm in arm through the woods in search of a lost child. To be perfectly frank, it was not the movie that was so memorable, but rather the audible comments from the audience during the course of the picture. Unfortunately, from the movies we have seen lately, there is little left on which to comment.

Staying with the Hanover scene, during January there was a student/alumni career seminar held in Hanover which included in the cast of characters Art Brown (pastor and educator) and John Kimball Jr. (trial lawyer), representing the Class of '43. Reports from both Frank Hartmann and Church Leonard are that Art and John were star performers.

Fritz Hier, my co-suffering secretary from '44, writes that Dartmouth's second oldest track record went by the-boards this winter. In a February 16 meet against Brown, Edmond Spinney, '75, ran the 100 yards in 2:124. thus breaking by 2/10's of a second the 2:12.6 mark set by Bob Williams back in 1942. Another Williams' record of 1:55.3 for the 880 yards is still to be beaten. As you know from last month's column, Bob passed away last December 29. We have also just received word that Leon Chapman died of cancer last Cristmas day. We shall try to have more information for you for next month's obituary section, but, in the meantime, the sympathy of the Class goes to Lip's wife Ruth and their children Leon, Lorna, Laurie, and Leslie.

Dr. Brad Copeland and wife Buffie were in Hanover a few weeks back. With both of their daughters off and married, Buffie reportedly has dusted off the old Latin grammars and is translating from Latin the 12th Century life of St. Brigid of Kildaire. Buffie and Brad stumbled on the project during a summer vacation in Irland four years ago and have been back three times since Buffie hopes to finish the book this year and we assure her we'll give it publicity in the column.

Pat Crance has volunteered a note with respect to the Don Crance family move (reported last month) to Englewood. Colo. Don was Transferred by Lederle as regional training manager in the Rocky Mountain region. Pat says the title is somewhat misleading since Don travels from Tucson to Alaska. Having had ten years in Atlanta, the Crances are now rediscovering winter sports and "delighting in the splendor of the mountains as seen from our house." The welcome mat for Dartmouth types is out with the Crances' address being 7154 South Xenia Circle, Englewood, Colorado 80110. (That's the type of Dartmouth wife to have, one who writes to the class secretary!) Other address changes are as follows and we would urge wives, children or girlfriends to follow the" lead of Pat Crance:

Robert C. Barnum Jr., 28 Wesskum Wood Road. Riverside, Conn. 06878; Charles W. Bradley. 49 Cross Ridge Road, New Canaan, Conn. 06840; James N. Capps M.D., 7000 East Genesee Street. Fayetteville, N.Y. 13066; Manuel Diaz Jr.. 74 St. James's Street, London SWIA IPS. England; Robert W. Kerwin, The Mount No. 3, 1 Field, RH 11. OLF, Sussex, England; William T. Maeck, Union Trust Co.,1 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, Conn. 06830; Chaplain Col. Bradley T. Morse, R.F.G. 2, Mascoma. Enfield, N.H. 03748.

We received a note from Mrs. Henry Garlick reporting that Henry is still paving highways out of Youngstown, Ohio, but winters in Delray Beach. Fla. Finally, Bob Krumm has been appointed director of the Maplewood (N.J.) Bank and Trust Company. Bob has spent his entire business career with W.H. Morton Division of American Express. In addition to his new directorship in the Maplewood Bank, he is the past president of the Municipal Bond Club of New York, director of Carolina, Clinchfield and Ohio Railroad Company, a former trustee of Overlook Hospital, and a member of the Bond Club of New Jersey, the Essex Club, and Somerset Hills Country Club. He and Janet still live in Maplewood.

In the nature of information, the Dartmouth Club of San Francisco has advised that there will be a Dartmouth College Conference in San Francisco. May 17-19, 1974. Those interested should contact Derek T. Knudsen, Suite 2424, One California Street, San Francisco, Calif. 94111.
