The program "Is There Life After Dartmouth is continuing in Hanover and the most recent session (January 17-18) included 43's Henry Keck, a design engineer. This information was passed on by both Church Leonard and Charlie Donovan. Charlie and Ruth just attended a Dartmouth Horizon's program in Hanover. My wife Susie and I recently saw Charlie and Ruth in Pottstown when we were up with our two younger sons who play hockey for a couple of Washington, D.C., teams. Charlie has a very active transportation consulting business going headquartered in Pottstown.

Doug LeResche w.rote from Jackson, Miss., that his son Bob '64 also holds a Masters from the University of Alaska and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins. Those of you who are interested in wildlife matters may have seen a paper presented by Bob to the National Wildlife Federation in Denver which has been reprinted by various publications throughout the country.

As a final matter, Charlie Dittmar sent on the sad news that Bob Thede passed away on October 12, 1974. There follows (with permission) most of Katie Thede's letter to Charlie:

"[Bob] died about 24 hours after open-heart surgery in Portland. We had not even been aware that he had a heart condition until a few months previous to this. He has always been a jogger and bike rider, eaten sensibly and done all the things people ought to do who want to live long lives. We found it out just about two weeks before our whole family was scheduled to leave on a three weeks bicycle trip through Ireland, the fulfillment of a lifelong dream of Bob's. At this point the doctors said 'no biking,' and the Portland doctors felt he should not take the trip, but the more understanding Salem doctor said, 'If it were me I'd go ahead.' We did. Bob rented a car, we took six of us and four bicycles, and one of us was always in the car with Bob. The trip was a beautiful experience for all of us. We loved Ireland, and we grew much closer as a family throughout those three fine weeks. We covered 500 miles on our bikes, and about 1200 in the little car, since in the evenings we could all pile in it and go places. Several times over there I thought, 'They can never take this away from us,' and it is true, we have the memory of that trip to cherish forever.

"We plan to remain in Salem. We feel at home here and I don't want to uproot the children any more than they already have been. People have been wonderfully kind to us, and I feel blessed in that I have three lovely children, plus funny little Todd to cheer us up, a challenging job for my church, a community that loved and appreciated Bob, surrounding us, and the discovery that if I can remember to take each day, one at a time, we can make it.

"Tassie, Bruce, Gretchen, Todd and I send all of you our love and best Christmas wishes, and with it my special wish that none of you will take your loved ones for granted. Tell each other how much you care, and build up a storehouse of good memories."

The sincere sympathy of the Class goes to Katie and the children who are living at 475 Boone Road, Salem, Oregon 97302.
