It was good to learn, through correspondence with George Martin, that Bob Griffin had recovered from the broken ribs he had sustained in the automobile accident on his way to Reunion. Also that his wife Helen had not been seriously injured. It was also good news to hear that Duze Lounsberry, although he was not able to spend his summer at Deer Isle, was at home in Weston and showing signs of steady improvement.

Good news continued with the report that Al Johnson had married a long time friend of the family. We will look forward to meeting the new Mrs. Johnson at subsequent 1915 get-togethers.

Although 1915 didn't quite meet the quota set for its contribution to the Alumni Fund, it did constitute a record as the largest contribution by a 60 year reuning class. Duze is to be congratulated for this addition to the many records he has set as class agent.

While in Hanover at reunion time 1915 was assigned the main lounge of College Hall as their headquarters. Although the former dining hall has been cut up into numerous cubicles, it was easy to remember eating there during our college days. How you bought a book of 550 coupons for $5. How you wrote your order on a slip of paper and held it up for a waiter to pick up and then sat back and waited for the food to come. A glance back into my "Mem Book" revealed a typical menu of those days and explained, to a considerable extent, why it costs so much more to go to college these days than it did in our time. Here are some of the items on that menu: rolled oats 70, broiled lamb chops 250, broiled bacon 200, ham and eggs 250, sausage 150, doughnuts 20, orange 50, and french fried potatoes 30. A combination breakfast for 20 cents included prunes, cereal, minced lamb on toast, baked potatoes, corn bread, and beverage.

The football season will be underway when this column reaches you. We hope that quite a few Fifteeners will see each other at various games. Since Marion and I live only about 12 miles from Princeton, we look forward to seeing those Fifteeners who will be at the Princeton game on November 22.
