Hi Gang! It's that time again". Good old JohnClark is busy turning over rocks looking for anxious and eager donors. John is shooting for $40,000 this year and hopes that at least 500 of you will join the giving ranks. John has really turned things around for the Class and on, December 7, 1974, received the Alumni Fund Committee Trophy for his great efforts and general enthusiasm and excitement for the cause. Let's get behind him this year and really push.
As promised, here's some news about some lost names:
Charles Failmezger is back in New York. For the past couple of years, Charles, accompanied by Susan, travelled over 40,000 miles by land, river, jeep through Central and South America doing volunteer medical work in clinics from Guatemala to Brazil. After spending the past few years on the treadmill, I can only envy the Failmezgers for their commitment. They are now busy in the city. Susan is awaiting number two child to join Alexandra, and Charles is a clinical instructor in dermatology at the Cornell University Medical School, and also works for Medicaid. Hats off to you two.
Bob Yassin has landed a big one. Bob is now acting director of Indianapolis Museum, reputedly an important one nationally. Bob has an impressive list of credentials, including a stretch as a Ford Foundation fellow at Yale in 1966, and his masters and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He prepped for his position with a tour as assistant director of the Museum of Art at that University.
Dick Bragaw can be found in Evanston, Ill., along with Lenora and son Richard. Dick was recently named vice president of the Super Market Institute, Inc., of Chicago. How about a letter, Dick? I can use the information for the Class and Susan could use hints on super market shopping.
Sam Anderson dropped along a pleasant note from Albequerque, where he and the family (wife Marilee and Sarah and Mary) were visiting. The Andersons still live out in California (Palo Alto) where Sam teaches high school English and thoroughly enjoys it. On the side he works with the Alumni Enrollment Program, but his true avocation involves the creative Initiative Foundation, whose goal is to ensure the meaningful survival of life on Earth. Sam's letter brought back some pleasant memories of those summers in Shell Beach in 1960 and 1961. Anyone else out there recall these? The Andersons also report that Bob Willis and family have migrated from New Jersey to Palo Alto. No word on what he is up to.
The '62 saga will continue next month. In the meantime, keep the cards and letters coming and, above all, give John Clarke and the Alumni Fund your support!
