The summer mail has brought lots of news, all of which we hope to cover in the months ahead. One of the nicest notes we received was from Carolyn Reed, the 14-year-old daughter of Charles Reed. The note goes as follows:

"My father, Charles Reed Jr., was in the Class of '54 and evidently has not written in years. The latest: he and my mother Birdie jointly own a stationery store called Brewers in Fullerton, Cal. We recently moved to the same area and are now residing at 2218 East Central, Fullerton 92631. He and my mother celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on June 15. Daddy is a very happy 43 and I'm just fine at 14. As some know, we were born on the same day, May 8.

Sincerely yours, Carolyn Diana Reed

P.S. Daddy still looks the same — bald!!"

Thanks, Carolyn, for all that news. Maybe some more '54 offspring will be motivated to write by your lovely note.

Got a nice note from Tony Kane, updating us on his current business activity. As you know, Tony is the founder of Anthony Kane Associates. He writes that his company has just completed its 15th year in business and, for the better part of that period, has tended to concentrate in executive recruiting activities in the investment and banking fields. Tony writes, "we have broadened our base and now serve the general corporate area as well. Essentially, we function as executive search consultants to management and assist client companies in the recruitment of middle- to senior-level executives.... The fact that members of our professional staff have backgrounds which span variety of industries enables us to recuirt effectively in many industries and for most job disciplines." Tony's offices are at 280 Park Ave. in New York.

I got a long letter at the beginning of the summer from Kaye Kaiser, the better half of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kaiser Jr. Kaye writes, "we're in the throes of another transfer — Phil being already in Mobile, Alabama and the rest of us up here still in Toldeo, Ohio. Would you believe this is our 17th move in 21 years of marriage! It seems I always get a house fixed up in time to sell it."

It's been very hard to keep up with Phil's career. For the past two years, Phil has been president of the Lion Stores, a division of Mercantile Stores, Inc.; now he has been promoted to head the C. J. Gayfer department store chain — a group of nine stores in Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi, the largest division of the Mercantile chain.

Kaye writes that the Kaiser children are growing with Lindy (20) in her junior year at Vanderbilt, Doug (18) starting at the University of Tampa, and nine-year old Dale going into the fifth grade. You would think that all this moving would have kept Kaye busy, but she writes that she started her nursing career again when they were in Jackson, Miss., (two moves ago) and then started teaching yoga in the Toledo area. It sure has been a peripatetic existence for the Kaiser family, but an extremely successful one. Congratulations to Phil and Kaye.
