Our Prexy Bert MacMannis and Dave Lilly spent a good deal of time in December as Alumni Council members wrestling with the knotty problem of the size of the College, particularly as it applies to numbers of women in the undergraduate college. The pros and cons have been spelled out in detail in this Magazine and our two '39 council members are calling for comments from classmates as further guidance for their thinking. Those with some convictions are invited to make same known by July of this year.
And our good treasurer Cornie Miller writes with a problem. It seems that some of his class dues bills inadvertently called for $10 when the figure should have properly been $20. This year we carry a heavier dues request to accommodate our book program for deceased members and our special 40th Reunion gift fund. So he asks that those who received the shorted bills kindly ante up the unmentioned extra $10 to keep the books straight. He sends his thanks in advance, and his regrets for the oversight.
George Boswell writes from Paris that the D-Club of that city of which he is president, recently held a luncheon for Dartmouth tourists which netted Moose and Betsy Wyman. George was mightily pleased and encourages other classmates who find themselves in Paris to get in touch.
Dick Ruebling writes that during last summer when Governor Byrne of New Jersey eliminated his job by discontinuing the vocational division of the State Dept. of Education, Dick spent the summer as an intensive lobbyist. This resulted in the restoration of his job. In October Dick's wife Eleanore walked the picket lines in a teachers strike. No point in fooling around with the Ruebling family - they're hanging in tough!
