Although I am most pleased to be a permanent resident of conservative old New England, I also consider myself a part-time resident of the Greater Southwest. Our company's principal operation is in Tulsa, Okla., and so I end up commuting out there almost every other week. One might normally consider this an unbearable chore, but thanks to a pleasant apartment and the friendliness of the area I find this burden quite bearable. I can therefore fully appreciate a nice note recently received from Walt Snickenberger saying how much he and Mary, as transplanted New Englanders, enjoy their new life in Dallas, Tex. Walt has a challenging job as vice president of student affairs for Southern Methodist University, and Mary is involved in volunteer work at Presbyterian Hospital. He also reports son Tom '76 is finishing his second year at Cornell Medical College in N.Y.C., and Walt Jr. is a budding stockbroker in Boston.

Some time ago I had an interesting letter from Robert Case in Scotia, N.Y. Bob has had a long and successful career with General Electric and obviously an even more fulfilling career of broad community service. He is a thirty-third degree Mason and a member of Scottish Rite. In 1975 he was the recipient of the only national award for community service presented by G.E.'s Elfun Society, a company-wide senior management association. I was also interested to learn something about Scottish Rite. It is not what most of us probably thought, a merry band of Scotsmen, but essentially the advanced of the two branches of Freemasonry, initially organized in Bourdeaux, France. The Rite included the degrees from the fourth thru thirty-third, and Bob has achieved, by his efforts and good deeds, the highest position in the order.

Also out of Upper New York State comes word thru Henry Brezinski '47 about LawrenceBartnick of Goshen. Henry reports Larry is doing a first-rate job as president of a group of school officers for the state's 737 school districts.

I know many members of the Class will be pleased to learn of the marriage of Roberta Thayer and Bill De Stefano. They tied the knot on April 17 and will be residing at 120 Dean St. in Mansfield, Mass. Congratulations, and we look forward to seeing you both back in Hanover again soon.

With spring comes Freshman Parents Weekend and I understand several '46-ers returned to see their progeny in action. Unfortunately I was in Oklahoma but my undercover agent Reg Pierce reported several classmates were in town. T. Coleman Andrews was up from Richmond to be with son Scott. Word also has it that he is building a house at Eastman, which is that attractive area being developed about 20 wiles southeast of Hanover. Gordon and Jean Daisley were up to see son Bob. Gordon, a long time practicing peditrician in Washington, D.C., would like to move to Hanover but says are not generating enough babies. He and Reg should have both made their move north about five years out of college. Jack and Beth Ulrich were up from Connecticut to visit daughter Elizabeth. Paul and Mary Donovan came up from Cohasset to be with daughter Ann and son Paul '77 who is president of the senior class.

Bob and Suzanne Goldman were up from the new corporation capital of the world, Stamford, Conn., to be with son Jim. And Bill and Patty White made the trip east from Wilmette to be with son Bill. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Word has come to me that Harold Frank recently became president of Bradlees Department Store Company. This is one of the biggest chains in the Boston area and for Harold not only a fine promotion but a move back to his home town from Columbus, Ohio, where he was executive vice president of Gold Circle Stores.

Have a great summer!

Thomas H. Gillaugh '46 (center) was recently honored by the New England Mutual LifeInsurance Company for 25 years of service as head of the Dayton, Ohio, agency. Friendsand associates at the April 6 dinner in his honor included (from left): Rick Pummill '75,Dick Scharrer '46, John Berry '44, and Bill Craig '44.
