The merry month of June is just around the corner, which means that the GTHES (Greatest Thirtieth Hanover's Ever Seen!) is only a few weeks away. As the newsletters from Jack Whitman and Reg Pierce have been pointing out, this Reunion will include a great deal more than singing the old college songs and having a few beers. The joint dinner with the Classes of '44 and '45 on Monday, June 9 will be followed by a Glee Club concert and visiting at President Kemeny's garden; the Class Dinner will be held on Tuesday night, following the major reunion seminar; there will be special activities at Tuck and Thayer; and it appears likely that more than 100 sons and daughters of '46 will be there to participate in the junior program.

If, by chance, you have not already sent in your reunion reservation card, please do so now; more than 20 of our classmates who have not previously attended reunions have sent in the good word that they will be back this time.

Any of you who read The New York Times on Sunday, March 2, would have noticed the picture of a delightful young lady named Mary Eliza Barrow,, daughter of the commanding general of the Parris Island Marine Corps Unit; the occasion was the announcement of her engagement to First Lt. Timothy James Hannigan, U.S.M.C. son of our Jud, of course. Tim is stationed at Parris Island, having received his commission in 1971, from which we recall his handy presence at our 25th Reunion.

From the University of New Hampshire comes the word that Professor M. Daniel Smith, of the Department of Education at that fine institution, is one of the representatives of the six New England grant universities working on a project of developing programs for people who would normally not be able to take advantage of state university offerings. Dan and his wife have just returned from a semester of teaching at Cambridge University in England.

In rushing this column to the printer early in March, we are unable to include a list of developments at the class executive committee meeting scheduled for the Wellesley Country Club on Friday, March 14, at which special programs for the GXHES, as well as the Alumni Fund Reunion Giving program, will be put in final form. A full report on that next month.

One Sunday afternoon in February, ABC-TV presented an hour-long special showing Peter Benchley, author of the best seller, Jaws, seeking (and finding!) the great white shark off Australia. The photographer for this remarkable journey was our Stan Waterman, who received considerable personal coverage, and a fine write-up in Red Smith's sports column in the Times, a hard-to-impress old pro, who was thoroughly impressed at the moment when Stan's camera actually touched the body of the enormous shark.

Your secretary had the pleasure of attending a dinner meeting last month in New York, with Ad Winship and Charlie Breed representing the College, and classmates Bud Scheu, Rick Shambroom, Gene Boker, and prexy Dave Weld in attendance - a fine time was had by all.
