The class officers picked a beautiful weekend for the mini-reunion and executive committee meeting. The only problem, in an otherwise beautiful setting, was the football team's loss to BU.
The class meeting was held at the Inn, led by President Walt Peterson. Also in attendance were Frank Weber, Ham Chase, George Bingham, Gerry Philips, John Evans, Zeke Lanzillo, Larry Goodman, Alan Epstein, Townes Harris, Lansing Reed, Doug Birch, and Phil Segal. Ham announced that the reunion committee was able to show a slight cash gain which was added to the class treasury. Frank and Alan reported on the class Alumni Fund results: 333 classmates, contributed $89,669, a 200 per cent increase over the 1977 effort. Among other weighty matters discussed were: a plan for an informal weekend early next year and tentative dates for the future fall football weekends; in 1979 the Princeton game and 1980 the Harvard game. No one can say this committee does not plan ahead. Lansing introduced our class intern, John Delaney, Class of 1979, who works out of President Kemeny's office. A most impressive student, an excellent reason to continue class support of this project, which we voted to do for at least one more year.
After the game, Kate and Lansing Reed hosted a cocktail party for all '47s and their wives. Besides those noted earlier at the meeting, Andy McCullugh, Bun Harvey, and GeorgeAddleman joined us at the game and at the Reed's. After dark the whole party moved to Reg Pierce's restaurant, in Etna, for dinner and songs. All in all, a good old fashioned football weekend. For those of you who missed it, I heartily recommend it for next year.
