Shirley just had a nice chat with Marie Kane, who had a fine Christmas in Marco Island, Fla., with some of her children. Marie is the top sales lady, as well as the top model, for a dress shop in Marco. It has been so successful that they have opened a branch in Naples. We look forward to seeing the Kimmels, Marie, and Ray and Judy Colby, and any others located on the west coast of Florida in March.
We have a "Traveler's Warning" from the class of '45. This couple, who will remain anonymous, were traveling by car to their home in Florida. As is their custom, they pack a lunch to eat at a rest area along the way. He had sampled the fine bottle of white wine, and remarked on its fine bouquet and body. He then reached for his eggsalad sandwich and took a bite, not realizing Mr. Bumble Bee was there first. By the time they reached the emergency room, his tongue was bigger than his mouth, and it required three days in intensive care before they could continue their journey. The moral, of course, is when eating out of doors spend as much time examining the food as you do in savoring the wine.
It is time for another contest and hopefully this will produce not only entries, but also news items. What couple is closest to having their 50th wedding anniversary? This will appear in the April edition so we will keep the ballot box open until June 1. To qualify you must be having your 46th or better in 1990, and be sure to include date and hour in case we have to break a tie.
It is also getting to be Alumni Fund time, and for those of you who might have become negligent in this past, send a quid or two, so that Bud Hall and his fine group of agents can get the recognition they deserve.
Phil Harmon has forwarded the information that Anne Schumacher, Bill's widow, died December 20 at her home in Sebago Lake, Maine.
