From the desk of counselor at law Gordy McKean comes the following: "Pat and I celebrated our 25 th anniversary this summer by returning to Scandinavia, where we had honeymooned. After a wonderful week of being personally escorted throughout Finland by a dear American friend who now resides there, including stays in Helsinki and the Lake District (where we became experienced in the therapeutic value of saunas), we flew to Bergen, Norway, by way of a one-day visit to Stockholm. holm. We relived the grandeur of the fjords and the charm of Flom, then took the train over the mountains and back to Oslo where we spent five full days (20-hour-plus days during the midnight sun period) with our dear friend Jens Roede (Tuck '63), his lovely wife, Putte, and their three sons, Anders, Halvor, and Christian.

"Besides the warm reunion and opportunity to live Norwegian style, we participated in a formal dinner party with 80 friends of Jens to celebrate his 50th birthday. On our way home, we had the opportunity to spend two days in Iceland, charming and most worthwhile stop-over.

"This summer we were also privileged to attend the Big D wedding of my old roomie Jim Haines's older son Jay '88 and Lali '89. Time certainly flies. Our daughter Penelope is in her second year of gainful employment (yeh!) as a teacher at Stewart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart (Princeton), while sons Bill '91 and Jim '92 were in the home stretch at Dartmouth with only their projected future med school and vet school tuition preventing our early retirement (hah!).

"We hope to join all our good friends at Dartmouth Night and look forward to 1962's big 50th birthday bash in D.C. this spring. However, on behalf of all us younger classmates, aren't we jumping the gun by a year?"

Older class secretary's comment to McKean's question is not for publication. Also, what happened to Putte and the three kids ... how come they didn't go to Dartmouth, too, Gordy?

Moving on to an older Gordy, GordyAydelott and Jim Biggs had their last fling at the National 45 and Over Grass Court Tennis Championships at the Germantown (Pa.) Cricket Club. Our still durable net duo reached the doubles quarter-finals and now look forward with "Big Green vigor" to next year and the 50 and over competition.

Another class baby (and my three-year roommate) Simms Browning was cornered in the wilds of Greenwich, Conn., where he admits to being married to Robin and fathering Simms Jr., 15, and Christy, 12. Under questioning, he also confessed to working for Neuberger & Berman, a N.Y. investment house. Incidentally, Simms Jr. is now at St. Marks School (Mass.) and will be playing JV soccer against Groton School's fabled Walker Giersch. More about this matchup later .. . and yes, young Gordy, time does fly.

Time has flown for the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge also. Neil Drobny recently attended a Hanover symposium on global environmental issues held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the lodge. Some 75 alumni gathered to help the College chart a course of establishing Dartmouth as a center of excellence for environmental studies.
