Jean and I spent a day in October visiting with LeeMann, Charlie’s widow, and her Topsfield (Mass.) Fair, of which she is executive secretary. This agricultural fair is one of the nation’s oldest events of its kind.
Let me switch hats for a moment and tell you about a new format for our future minireunions. Instead of two nights and one day, I am thinking of a one-day gathering for a football game in late September or early October. The day would start with a pre-game catered luncheon. That night there would be a reception and dinner with maybe a speak- er from the College. Sleeping rooms would be an individual responsibility. All the perti- nent data will be forthcoming in my reunion letters starting in late spring. 1 will appreci- ate your thoughts and ideas.
And while I’m wearing my reunion hat, I know you all will want to thank Pat Gorman, ably assisted by Danny Marshall, for the outstanding job memorializing our 55 th with a special issue of the Pace Setter. My personal thanks to you , Pat.
Preparations are underway in the Francis household for our annual trip to the West Coast with middle daughter Kim. We’ll be spending time in San Francisco, Carmel, and Las Vegas (slots only). This will be our third consecutive trip to our City By The Bay and God’s country! My only regret is that I wish I had known the area in the forties. If so I wouldn’t have remained a Yankee.
By the time you read this I’ll bet the first snow has fallen in Hanover (remember our first storm!). It is hard for me to believe that it is time for Jean and I to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May the joy of the season recall the joy of our 55th!
News is scarce. In fact, the larder is bare, so while you have your Christmas cards and stamps out, why not drop me a short note and let me know what you are doing these days?
May you all have good health and cheer!
